hey lads just wondering if any1 has a top rad hose for a classic impreza, its the one on the left as if you were lookin at the car head on,mine sprung a leak tonite :icon_cry: had to leave it at the girlfriends house .i think theres 2 for breaking up in kinsellas i saw on another post, but just incase there gone when i go up 2moro i said id ask.

Thanks lads

Had the same problem on Sunday, blew the top rad hose.

I'm fitting a new hose from Subaru for now but they are known to be a weak link so in preparation for the upcoming track day I've ordered a nice black samco top hose from Murray Motorsport, they're special order only in black so about 2 week wait but peace of mind knowing that she won't blow again & save the heads warping.

tanx lads got one from kinsellas this mornin,5euro quick fix but must look into gettin samco hoses :653:,thanks lads.

that reads if you don't replace with samco or if subaru top rad hose blows then heads warp..

what a ridiculous and stupid statement.. :ponder2: :ponder2: :ponder2:

Some of the comments about the ISDC for Subaru owners at the moment is getting more scare tactic by the day..

Above comment is really silly...........

Ah Dave FFS whats your problem with me :dontknow:

Statement of fact....the top rad hose is a weak link in the cooling system for classic Imprezas, I'll give you a few minutes to google that if you want to check it out.

Statement of fact....if you continued to drive when the rad hose blows the oil & water temps will go sky high leading to possible head gasket failure & possible head warping.

Now I'll go back to my original quote

And where I know temps will be running much higher when out on track I've decided not to take a chance with this happening again so fitting a samco hose to give ME peace of mind.

Now can you please drop this personal vendetta against me, I've never once on here made a negative comment about you or your company :snooty:

I'm not really taking sides here, and I know standard top rad hoses do tend to go, But a new Subaru part will last a good few years without issue even with track use. And for the cost of Samco, You could buy 5 or more Subaru ones.

If the top rad hose does blow completely while driving the water temp gauge will go into the red and give you more than enough time to shut the car down and avoid damage to the heads or head gaskets. But just the way you've written above sounds like if the top rad hose blows then your heads WILL warp, which isn't true.

With that said Samco is a superior hose and will last longer but is NOT indestructible, they can blow too. Its all down to: "you get what you pay for" Its like a Kevlar timing belt. Its a bit of extra security.

Yeah fair points Phil, its just that after talking to a fellow member on here who blew a rad hose 2 weeks after buying new from Subaru I thought it only fair to give my opinion on what I was doing in fitting a samco hose.

My temp gauge didn't make it near the red line the other day when I blew the hose but for the sake of €31 for a samco hose I'd rather not take the chance in future.

Now Brian if your saying that a brand new top rad hose from Subaru blew after only 2 weeks then the car clearly has other issues besides the top hose in the cars coolant system.

Most top rad hoses that blow on Subarus are hitting the 10 year old mark. So think everyone can accept ware and tear at this stage of rubber hoses life is fair enough.

Now if you ask me is a samco hose better then factory then yes would come top ofl list. But the lad lad that started this thread clearly stated that his car is stranded and needs sorting asap. Then he can't wait for 2 weeks to order one in. The factory Subaru shouldhave no bother going another 5-10 years.

Also anyone like ourselves with full samco coolant kits in stock would not spilt the kit for top rad hose only so be special order either way where subaru ones are ready to go.

And regards google its certainly not me giving this mad info and scare tactics about here.

The top rad hose is NOT a weak point in the classic system as such as factory problem. But is with age and ware and tear after ten years like any other car . To comment as being a weak point is a scare tactic for new subaru owners to be going out buying top rads hoses all over the place so is NOT a statement of fact.

And if you continued to drive after youve just seen a sh*t load of steam coming from your engine bay then maybe a car isn't for you if that didn't signal something major wrong here, pull over and switch off engine..

And regards track days there are plenty of lads here and in uk driving on track days with their original radiatior hosing so again a silly point.

Now unless you wanna come out with any more silly facts that WELL aren't actually factual we'lll leave it there....

Dave, you being a qualified mechanic :icon_rolleyes: I guess you must be right & I must be wrong.

So before I say anything more that you might regret later we'll just agree to disagree & leave it there.

And a genuine piece of advice for you........

Please advertise that you're an official samco agent if you are, I trawled the net trying to find a samco agent that had the hoses (I would have bought a full kit if necessary) in stock but the best I could do was get Murray Motorsport to order them in for me so not knowing you were a dealer you missed out on a sale.

Hi Brian.

You say absolutely anything you feel like you wanna say. Your words of " i might regret anything you say later" is, i suppose taking up as a threat.

Very decent behavior for a committee member i must say.!!

Regards me being correct on above silly comments then yes i am by a subaru mile!!

And regards any of my product business ii will certainly not be discussing it on a public forum.

Please refer back to points above? STi Brian, Please stop making silly comments?

Now i'm happy to leave it there if you are??
