how is it going lads roughly how much would a rebuild cost there is a knocking noise coming out of the engine when its cold i hope its not on its way out when its warm u can still hear it but its not as bad what do yous think thanks lads

Dont drive her and get t looked at asap one of the traders on here is doing very good and cheep rebuilds he is up north and the way the euro is at the min its the only way to go IMO

You could be doing the same thing a few months down the line

do you mean a secondhand engine or new?

a secondhand one wouldnt be good to buy as there could be some damage to the internals and could pack up on you

thanks for that steve but i got sorted i rang al borrows this morning he said its pisston slap and not to worry about it so its a big weight off my shoulders

no brian the knocking is just bad for a min when its cold he dident say anything about oil he just said id be a waste of money just to get the noise out of it so sounds good to me

Piston slap is common in the 1997, 98 Impreza. A thicker oil could hide the noise but if it doesnt bother you then no point dong anything.
