RECON ENGINE

Hey Matt, How are you dealing anyway with the fact your Scoob let you down?

I'm actually almost done, and really need some mental support. Started even to think about putting it on sale. :icon_cry:

Scoobs are pretty awesome (when they work). :icon_hang:

@Codders, How long has yours been off the road now?
It did enter my mind to sell mine also. But considering what i paid, how much time and money ive put into it and the fact i wouldnt really want to drive anything else has made me determinded to fix it up better and stronger than ever.
Im just impatient, thats my problem. I want it back on the road now. But im out of work since last week and have my brothers wedding in Spain in 4 weeks time.
Im starting a new job on tuesday but its not as an electrician so the money is sh1te. And its monthly pay so i wont get paid for a month and when i do get my first months wages it will only be 2 weeks wages because of the dates in which the wages are done :icon_blahblah: :zzzz:
Basically im gettin the car sorted asap NO MATTER WHAT!
You should do the same. Beg, borrow but preferably dont steal and you'll be sorted

@Matt.. Welcome to the club. (we should set up our own me thinks)

:lolpoint:

As I'm in the same position. Loads of money spent and years of waiting for the Type-R of my dreams. My parents keep telling me now to sell it as it will ruin me, but I can't see myself in any other car.. Simply can't. I'm driving to work in a borrowed Opel Astra and I honestly hate it.
Since May when I got a new job I'm also monthly paid and it's a pain in the hole really. Can't get used to it.. so we need to work more on our budgeting apparently

the difference is that my car is off the road on intemittent basis. It was dead yesterday, and today it started driving as usuall.. driving me nuts by the way :dontknow:
2 mnths ago the gearbox went and spent over 1200 EUR to get it back on the road.. and now this.
To be honest I lost trust in my car. I'm afraid to drive it and don't think I even try to drive up to the Barbecue in Portlaois.... :icon_cry:

@codders
So no idea whats causing your intermittent faults?
My gearbox is a bit notchy to be honest too.
My plan is sort the engine-preferably forged to handle future upgrades towards 450bhp
Then instead of fixin my gearbox, i plan to put a 6 speed dccd box into it. In my eyes, all very worthwhile money spent but even my mates think im nuts.
One of them drives an FTO and thinks its the best thing ever. Was in it yesterday and it just cries for a turbo. I hate anything non turbo unless its a v8 or something special.
Another option that crossed my mind was buy the pulsar GTI-R in the for sale section. Its 4500euro and just had a rebuild with forged bits and racing clutch. A nice tasty pocket rocket for small money.
But the 4500 could fix my car up lovely which is my priority
