Remap powers

Petrolheads
Greetings again

So I have a few questions about the potential remap numbers my car could achieve with the group buy Ken is organising

It will have a 3 port, performance panel filter, 255lph pump and PFR7B plugs

I am in four minds about four different scenarios

That being

Power for

Remap with decat to 95
Remap with OE centre to 95

And

Remap with decat to E5
Remap with OE centre to E5

Obviously decat and E5 wil yield the biggest gains

But what do you think the others will gain

I'm unsure about both a decat and also what fuel to map to

From previous emails to Bob he expects from experience that even though my car is auto it will still give out the same figures as a manual once mapped so dont let the autoness alter your opinion

once mapped less chance of it going bang, choose a fuel that is readly available so you dont get caught,if doing long journeys you need to factor in weather you can get the same fuel as mapped for.or do dual maps one for 95 then what ever mix u want e5 and meth or plain e5 ect,i cant see you gaining massive amounts of power with the mods you mentioned but the main thing is it runs right and safely and powers gains after that is a bonas.

Well there is a maxol in my town, that's what I have used for the past 3 years, and i can even get to dublin on a tank easy so finding a fill up isn't a problem as such for me,

I'd fit a decat if I could find one cheap but a H&S delivered will be about €200

I have seen an auto mapped to 330 and countless manuals to boot so the potential Is there it's just the fuel..

If I could scrape into the 300 club I'd be happy as larry

i wonder is it worth putting a decat on and then the hassles of changing each time for test??you will need to decide if its worth it ect,if your worried about money ect why not just map it with the cat in,then at least you know shes safe and look at it again when funds allow and do few other bits

Apparently a B4 will pass emissions with just the one cat in the Downpipe amd a decat in the middle

Though it does give less room for error I suppose

Raging as i sold my decat for 80 quid in the summer :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

Definitely decat the centre anyway, it will pass nct emmissions no problem with the downpipe. If I were you I would decat the whole thing and then you can put in the center section back in for the test as it will just about pass with the center section also. Center section is dead easy to change too, you'd do it yourself in your driveway in 30-40mins.

Map it for Maxol E5 but tbh I think most stations are E5 now anyway so won't make much of a difference.

You may scrape 300 but just about I'd say. How many standard turbo B4's have you seen at 330? Are the dyno dynamic proven?

ok ill make a call to H&S tomorrow and see what the deal is

really cant afford two decats though Rob! not all of use can afford such nice things like you and your Spec C :hammerhead:

yeah iv done the change 3 times no so i have it down to an art :)

mate the list is almost endless! its a pretty bog figure for the bellow mods,

Decat
pump
plugs
and filter

personally i have been in 5, and know of many others any mapped gen 3 on UKL with those mods will be at or above 300 with ease, HELL one of the Mods is having running problems and it pulled over 300 on the rollers

I am no legacy expert, but i think from what i know, if the Legacies are the high compression ratio i think they are, you will see your main gain by using mapping for e5, again im no expert but on the legacy, i suspect Bobs hands will be some what tied with what he can do on 95 ron. Decat or no Decat.. If i was to put a guess on a bhp difference between 95 and e5 i would guess at 10-20bhp but the car will be easier to map and be safer on E5, But best way i think is too just ask Bob what he recomends you do to get the best out of your mapping session..
If you can i would get rid of all cats.

agree Ken! emailed bob and awaiting reply :)

but i really cant get rid of all the cats its just never going to happen! thats like 500 quid on pipes :icon_omg:

ill try my best and stretch to a decat! :)

500 quid is nothing lol i spent 1000 sterling on a rotatated up and down pipe

Could always buy a Down pipe, and cut the cat or break it out in centre section, cut it out and get pipe made welded in... DIY Stylee

but again, Ken you bought a HAWKE Spec C your worse than Rob!! no opinion here what so ever :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:

but i respect you for it

Dyno dynamics? Is that the name?

I'm find it hard to believe you don't believe me lol

If I had said the same figs for a impreza you wouldn't bat an eye lid

Wasn't your b4 mapped rob?

Its not you I don't believe, it would be them I'd question.

Depends on the impreza for the figures quoted, I just never thought the tiny B4 turbos were up to 330bhp.

Mine was mapped alright by Bob and was 300 dead on the rollers, and it couldn't have had any more without changing turbos or engine.

maybe bobs mapping has come on, and maybe its the fact the UK lads just have better fuel but im very surprised you only gained 20bhp for a remap thats shocking value for money :ponder2:

heres some dynos i pulled off UKL

they are only the graphs i can find, lots more but its just finding them

but its also down the the RR too and the way its congiggered, the one above is used alot and is always consistent and thats why they always go back

but RR graphs arent all you need, a good road mapped car would prob show less numbers on the RR but still get you down the road as fast

im not number hunting at all i just want a good noticeable increase in driving fun and also performance, id be happy with some better responce and a bit more low down

but its hard not to want a good number :icon_biggrin:

Goosie, dont forget that if Robbie got 300bhp, which you have said is only 20bhp over factory, but you are talking the 280bhp is based on Japan fuel, so the Legacy thats 280 in Jap land, could only be 240 250 here on our fuel, and thats without the safety aspect.

Also the bhp figure only tells part of the story, cars drive different after being mapped..

I had a v6 STI, fresh in from Japan, drove it with booster, fitted a decat, and panel filter, and Got Andy F to remap for 95 octane... as thats all that was available back in the day... the difference was night and day, so much so that the clutch was alright on was started to slip coming to end of map,
At the end of it all i reckon car was 280-300 when mapped, but it was definitly only 240 at best before the map on our fuel
