Lads advice please drivers door destroyed in accident now should I try and get a second hand door or replace and repaint through insurance any advice cheers.Oh my ecess is 250 on insurance cheers.

No matter which option, I've found second hand doors eventually lean/distort and catch sills etc. just a matter of when.

Personally I'd with a new door and respray if you're not paying for it.

Well don't agree with that.

A perfect second hand door bolted to another car will be perfect. same as if that perfect door was removed say for a respray and refitted.

obviously depends on fitter etc

how do you mean lean and distort?

if not fitted and gapped correctly then may happen. but only down to fitting

Fractionally, I've seen 3 or 4 doors lean over a couple years. It's doable alright but must be very hard to get that factory shut line and get it to stay there.

I've heard they're the pet peeve for body shops to fit. :D

as Dave said all down to the fitter and condition off door
no reason for a door to be bespoke to one car more than any other part
id say a new door is pricey for a subaru and I guess your talking about your own insurance
so second hand id go
just have a good place do it and make sure they blend the paint in to the other panels

If body shop has issue with shut lines they will have it with a second hand perfect door or a new door.

I've got rear passanger door replaced 3 years ago and still sitting fine and used more than any other passanger door.

€50 for a door crimbo bargin

:smokin:

No problem with used panels, just make sure it's not all wavy from a previous repair. Fitting should be no problem once pillar hasn't moved.

Even if you went down the insurance route, it may cost you €250 excess now but regardless of no claims protection, they will load you to the hilt come renewal time so it will cost you a lot more than €250, plus when shopping around at renewal, you'll have to admit making a claim for the next few years.
