Ride On Lawnmowers - Any advice???

I traded in my husqvarna side feed which always clogged up Jamie, even with short enough damp grass it done my head in,
got the castlegarden and the first cut with grass that was wet & around 4-5" it just sailed through it with not one blockage

We have always had Honda j, great machines. Never had any trouble with them. We kept them in prestine condition and never had trouble selling or trading in.
Centre shoot is the job, not that difficult to unblock if it happens.
Plus if you have trees to be going around or through then the centre shoot is neater.

Husqvarna are a good machine too but expensive on parts I believe.

I have a husqvarna ride on mower wit the side shoot tat fills into the 2 boxes at the back and never gave me any trouble apart from the belt goin and part of our lawn is steep but if u hang out of the side it spins on it gets grip again. I think most of them mowers have brigs and stratton engines in them and are very good. The Honda and John deere mowers are very expensive and the castle garden ones are good if u cud get one cheap enough.

Cheers for advice lads... Got an idea what I'm after now.. Just gotta find the right yoke for the money.

I bought a dino made in swiitzerland basically same as castlegarden
12 hp Briggs and Stratton 40" cut non hydro
10 years on the go cutting a half acre for me and roughly the same for me dad
Nothing ever broke without help parts were always cheap as chips
The deck is starting to rust through in places now but it's been great I'd say it will weld up as the rest of her if perfect on the button every time good for a few years yet
Cost 2000 when new

The viking machine I bought from ACE hire new. Have it 5 years . Just replaced belt due young lad driving over net and it broke. You could hire one as a trial before you buy. B&S IC engine. It does block sometimes if grass 4inches long and wet.

Thanks all for the advice...

I got sorted last night with a Castelgarden Twin Cut... with a 14hp B&S V-twin motor. No oil painting but good strong motor and clean deck! :multijump:

That should shut you up Pete! :icon_nana:

Stripped it down and gave it a full service last night... but had to pull the tank out as the fuel lines need replacing as they're badly perished! :icon_rolleyes: She'll be running sweet now... but I do think the seals on the carb may be leaking as it's hunting slighty on idle but fine on full chat... so i reckon it's drawing air in on the carb or a on a leaky manifold gasket. Might get a new carb as they're on 30 odd euro on ebay new.

Gonna strip it down over the winter and tidy up all the metal work and get some replacement plastics that are badly cracked and faded.

Ahhhh yes... another project! :icon_biggrin:
