rocker cover gaskets

I have a small crack in one of my rocker cover gaskets which is causing oil to leak and smoke to come out of the bonnet scoops, I have the new gasket seals but cannot find a mechanic to fit them before scooby shootout.
Question
how easy / hard is it to replace these yourself
anyone every done it before
where the hell do I start

any pics and an idiots guide to would be great...
 
what type of subaru is it :ponder: which side is leaking :ponder: because my brother done mine last week at the drivers side of my98 type r it took 2 hours to do it he is a mechanic he had to remove the whole airbox, maf, and he took it off from there without jacking it up and put a pan under it to collect the oil out of it :)

i was the same as you a lot of smoke coming through the vents people i passed thought my car was on fire :lol: it was a rotten smell
