Rolling Roads on this fair Isle???

Petrolheads
good morning lads

SO yet another post by me :icon_rolleyes:

i fitted a decat to my B4 a while ago, and boost instantly went up from 1.1 to 1.45bar at full tilt, quite the jump I'm sure you agree

around the same time i fitted a knock link and that seemed to be happy. only getting one green LED set to max sensitivity (checked it and all the LEDS do work)

after a few days i got scared, and stared faffing around with restrictor pills and got it down now to 1.25-1.3, still too much i think.

lean running is my fear, i have an uprated fuel pump, but i don't really think that'll make a difference too much

i can't bring myself to get rid of the decat, as it has really improved response and pull from the car,

SO, ill stop giving you my life story, and ask

where are the Rolling Roads in Ireland, as i want to get my fueling checked out

feel free to also discuss my above problem

thanks :)

more specifically, are there any outside of Dub area (I'm in Clare)

oh and i know, obviously, a map is the way forward, but i don't really plan on keeping to car too much longer, so I'm begrudged to spend megabucks mapping it only to loose it with the car

would you not think your taking a stupid risk runnin decat without the car been mapped for it . only a matter of time before it goes pop I'd reckon . needs mapping as soon as possible or put the cat back in

yes i do fear this,

i have been running it a bit too long really, it was my intention to map it, but intentions changed

i would put my old OE one back in, but its got a foot long hole in it :icon_lol:

but SOMEHOW! it passed the NCT in Feb :ponder2:

i think your best bet might be couture for rr and "open sourcs mapping" . but i would also heed tommys advice , not good running decat without remap

emmm how bad it is?

i got car of billy with decat and fully changed exhaust. he drove it like this for ages. i drive it now for awile, though i would not be a drager from each lights. its a UK WRX.

somehow i never came across this problem of decats to be maped asap before.

stay off boost until you sell it or get a remap. simples

hahaha! is it???? clearly your not as addicted to boost as me!

Legacys are slow enough even with full boost let alone not straying above 4k :icon_omg:

I've been ragging it like this for 4 months and no problems :dontknow:

hell its only my second engine :icon_biggrin:

its a no brainer really take the decat off weld up the original one and put back on,you not planning on keeping the car and shifting on so why not just leave her alone and stop playing with fire or your nxt post will be she wnet bang any ideas why lads!!

i would leave the decat on her if your going to sell soon.

just put a manual adjustable boost controller on like a dawes devise and set it to 1 bar of boost and it will be fine

maybe your legacy is slow, dont paint us all with that brush!! manual boost controller seems like a good idea if your willing to pony up the dollars for it before you sell

Irish cars dont need to be mapped to run a decat
however to get the best from it they should be mapped
as it will be over fuelling
or so i have been told
in am not a mechanic

well i am a bit worried now as it got a full exhaust done with no cat at all. i do get the emmision light on and we checked it while connecting it to diagnostic yoke. Though it drives perfect and no problems at all. i got car like that for 3 weeks and billy had it like this even longer and i am pretty sure billy had given it more coal then i do.
i got full standart exhaust of him too. I could arrange my buddy to swap it back to standart next week, but i wonder if it is a really big problem? i dont mind it over fueling a wee bit, ( thats what happens when liamda sensor has an error ) but this is the first time i hear that decat can be so sinister...

@shadow - you need a resistor in circuit to get rid of the light. Some systems like miltek come with the resistor as part of the kit. Not sure what size it should be bu someone will know.
