Roof scoop.

Standard on a spec c only.

There are a couple of lads thinking of retro fitting these on here & there is an excellent step by step guide from scoobynet but you'd want to be handy with tools to do it yourself

fitted a spec c vent on my sti 2 months ago!!!!
pm if you need any help!!!
cost round 350 euro to import from japan!!!

always wondered about these ...
i presume in functional form ,they allow cool air into the cockpit , handy in rally cars etc ..

are the people who are retro fitting them , making them functional or leaving them as just a visual mod ...
and if they are functional , how do you stop rain water leaking in

very much functional otherwise whats the point IMO....
theres a rubber seal on mine that keeps the water out!!!!

not yet mate!!!
havent had my car for last 6 weeks but its back from today.....ooohhhh yyyeeeaahhh!!!!
pics soon!!!

yes , theyre very functional, in fact i would use it quicker than the air con and the clasp on the inside holds it tight to roof so no leaking water even when power-washed .

only thing , if it freeze's, when thawing out , you get a few condensation drips but not a regular occurance

hope this helps

In two minds about fitting a roof scoop to the car,can anyone tell me will the standard type r roof
vent open up fully underneath the scoop or is a little trimming involved?cheers.

No... Not under the correct scoop that was fitted to the 98/99 WRC cars. You need to go with the later scoop off a newage (the square edged one) as the standard type r (spec c, RA) vents are too wide and won't clear the scoop. Pics below show a newage and a classic scoop as fitted to rally cars... if the square shape of the newage doesn't bother you than go with it... if you prefer the rounder scoop off classic then you need to fit the vent off a rally car which is pretty industrial looking and not as practical as the standard sti ones as they leak a biut and aren't completely air tight when closed!
