A black one of these pulled up beside me at lights last week. Awesome looking machine.
 
Do it, ya know you want to! They're absolutely class, sound of them is unreal. that car was around mullingar for a while
 
lovly lookin and sounding , lack of awd is only dissapointing thing about it !
 
i like my hatch too much at the moment to change.

i think they are 1000 to tax , im paying 960 already but new subaru 2000
 
ya'd buy some Impreza for the 40k they are looking for that ,

every time i meet one on the road i want to like it but they look so max power or like whole thing is made of plastic (especially in green) and all that power to the front wheels is nuts , haven driven and felt the torque steer in the series1 focus rs i dread to think how bad this one is ,

imo top gear showed this car for what it is , a second best to the hatch sti , especially when clarkson refused to print the time the sti done and track after all his shiten on about how much faster the focus was ,
 
You should drive one tommy,they would make a laugh of a new sti and a lot less torque steer than the mk1 less tax ,lower service and repair cost there is no substitute for technology where the sti is a modification of the original idea the rs has rewriten the rule book for what can done with front wheel drive try one and see yourself looks may not be to everyones taste but I love them savage car
 
Wagon dec probably a touch harsh on the sti, I had a right crack with one a while back ... He certainly wasn't laughing at me :subaru:
 
Haven never driven either car i couldnt argue the point with ya Dec , but i still think the sti cosworth made a show of the rs 500 on top gear , quicker than an evo 10 as well so imo the whole rs is best is a result of fords pr machine , until i drive one i doubt i'll change my mind
 
Ye maybe a little harsh on the sti .dont mean to offend but the rs is a seriously fast car and iv driven both and I would prefer the rs any day,im not sayin that the sti is crap or anything like that its just that if you think about it the rs is basically a modern day escort rs turbo front drive ,turbo engine,fancy kit and wheels ,the new sti is a modern day v1 sti which would have been on sale back then around the same time.so by that arguement who has moved there game on the most I would argue ford because the sti is basically the same setup modernized and with maybe 50 -60 more bhp the ford went from 136 bhp to 350 in the case of the rs 500 thats 214 more bhp through the same layout as rs turbo escort like I said technology is hard beaten sorry if I offended ya
 
jesus dec no offence taken here mate, everyone is entitled to there opinion.

Each has there own pros and cons , i also have driven both thats why i originally posted id be tempted.

Theres no doubt the rs is a super drive but there still is an amount of torque steer that i just wouldnt like, nothin like 4wd :icon_grin:

You have to remember as well that the RS will have more power at the wheels having less transmission losses..the STi will beat it to 60 but after the traction advantage is gone the RS will reel it in

The cosworth is £50000 and the rs500 is £35000 , , the price difference is nearly the same difference as a impreza 2.0 rx and a impreza sti in the uk , so hardly a fair comparison

The car does drive very well for fwd , to make the car 4wd it would be overpriced for it's competors,ie. Astra vex ,megane rs250 etc

A basic rs in the uk is £25600, a basic sti is £28900 so why would both cars be compared?

The price difference here would be greater because of our vrt ,and road tax is double on the sti

But the sti is a Great car in it's class and price range but both cars new ,there is 25000 euro of a difference

I had a 2007 spec c toshi arai , totally different car to the rs , both around 300 bhp

I would say green is to much and blue isn't enough ,colour wise ,the rs500 only has 40 bhp more ,red stiching on the seats ,red painted callipers and a 3m wrap and black wheels



White rules ...... So do sti s......
