Rumble

Looking to get a low rumble on my BL5.

Right now it sounds more like a VW.

I know exhaust and air intake play a big part, but what should i go for?

Also, i don't want to change the whole exhaust just a section or 2 (partially because I'm broke!). Which would be the best to upgrade to achieve a low rumble?
 
you cannot get that traditional lower boxer rumble with the twinscrolls, because of their equal length headers, you can change the back boxes to get a depper tone but thats about it

Twinscroll turbos need equal length headers to work properly. Cut some holes in your back boxes for more sound :)

Stock system is very tinny. You could try get some used sti back boxes from the auctions in Japan?

I miss the rumble from the old WRX even though current is twice as powerful. And it's really annoying that people (who don't understand what's going on) assume rumble = more powerful engine. The amount of times people have looked disappointed when I start the engine and not much rumble (there's a bit and it is low pitched but not as much as unequal header rumble) :icon_cry:
 
yeah you can hear a bit of a rumble on warm idle on mine, but its very subtle, thats probably due to the full turbo back exhaust, bringing it out

blitz nur spec r backbox will see you right

nic spec c had a nur spec on his (equal length) & although it didn't have the flat 4 rumble it sounded like a superbike & was a sound totally addictive on its own

Interesting... but I'd imagine an exhaust loud enough to sound like a superbike would attract the gardai and their new sound measuring equipment wouldn't it! I presume you would also have to remove it to pass NCT too?
 
Yes and no

For nct all you need to do is fit the baffle that can be bought along with exhaust. Garda at side of road (if equipped with sound measuring equipment) are a different story & only way around that would be the electronic valve things you can buy to fit to your exhaust.

I have a set of 4inch back boxes that will bolt straight upto your standard exhaust...

don't have a vid of what they sound like as they came off another twin scroll .was that u I seen last week on the quays I think I gave u a wave I was in a we limited. My number is 0858559802 if you want to have a look at them

What make are they? Any pics?

And yea that was me. How many limiteds in the country? I count 3 on here (saloons).
