satnav?

ok does any one know what i need to buy to get satnav on my dvd player in my car , it has the option for satnav but am i right in thinking i need to buy some thing to make it Receive ?
 
You may need to run an antenna to your windscreen, sat nav needs line of sight to the sky usually. What does the DVD player say when you select the sat nav option?

Some head units need a seperate reciever unit alright, some need just antenna cos sat nav is built in and some need to run a disc each time you want to use it, so basically, what does it say when you select it? or, if you tell me the make and model, i can tell you which type it is and what it needs.

If it has it built in and you just need an antenna it will ask you are you indoors because you will have no signal. But if its built in antenna would have come with it , good mounting point is under dash, it will penatrate plastic.
 
Yeah you need a seperate sat nav reciever for that im just lookin for model number now, I think that sony head unit is discontinued, ill find out
 
Yeah its an old model so im havin trouble finding out which sat reciever goes with it, but im not done yet!!
 
coopster i work in place that owns carkits.ie give me make/model and il try find out the receiver you need try get you price aswell
