Scumbags + Car + Lampost = Who Pays Me

Alright lads just a bit of topical conversation, if someone robs my car throws it into lets say a lampost and they get arrested and charged who pays for my car, is it Mr Insurance man, Mr Tax Man or Mr Scumbag or even that pot of gold that the insurance companies pay in to.

Just wondering where the fault lies when it comes down to it.

last resort i would say is your insurance, i think you can press charges against scumbag for criminal damage to private property and might get it that way too. Anyway thats the last bit of sense ill be making this year im off to start

When i had a person drive into me and then drive off, i had to go through a process that covers accidents when there is a person with no insurance involved. It should be the same for a situation like you say but unfortunately with this being Ireland it probably doesn't work that way.

I was on the receiving end of hit and run in my last car, had to claim thru my own insurance, dragged on 4 2 months without a car

The Insurance indemnity scheme I think only pays for injury - not the cost of the car.

You could probably issue proceedings in civil court against the people who took the car - but the likely have no means which the sheriff can seize

Therefore you 'll end up having to claim off of your own insurance
