I have the impreza insured fully comp thru 123 using my no claims
I want to insure a second vehicle for travelling to and from work
How do I insure this van/car at a half decent price?
Getting quotes of 1200 euro upwards to insure as third party!!!
any suggestions?

If you want to insure a second car then (as stupid as it sounds), you have to take out a second full policy..

If by any chance your missus has a licence, then insure it in her name with you as a named driver which should work out cheaper

Or if your car has a 3rd party extension, then you may be able to use this to drive the car around 3rd party. I personally use my 3rd party extension to drive the daily mucker around, just make sure you take your policy with you and put it on the dash on fold it up and put it in the window slot.. Been through numerous checkpoints now and no problems with some guards even ringing the insurance company for clarification that I'm covered.

Yea sounds like a plan Robbie
Can the vehicle be registered in my name for third party extension cover?
Or does that matter?

Ye, it has to be registered in someone elses name, thats the only stipulation to my 3rd party cover. I have mine registered in my missus' name

I'm trying to do the same myself at the moment
have the Impreza insured with Quinn, they quoted me :new_2gunsfiring_v1: €650 on a 2L Diesel on brand new 2nd policy, said my 8 year NCB will be counted as named driver experience :snooty:

called nononsense.ie and got quoted €343 on brand new policy, called Quinn back and they will do nothing for me (surprised they are turning down business in their current position :dontknow:) i think i know where i'l be going :653:

Definitely go for it if the diesel is worth money but for me and a lot of others at the moment, the cost of insurance plus the excess if you make a claim doesn't justify comprehensive insurance because it adds up to the same or greater value than the car :icon_sad:

Hammie , I have the Jeep insured using full no claims , but my broker mirrored the no claims onto the car when i bought it
so I have full no claims on both, worth asking them about

Only works if you are claim free for 3 years according to McCarthy insurance broker

I think he has that amount , but it differs from broker to broker, mine did it from commercial to private
some wont do that either.

123 are scum and wont let me mirror any no claims at all
even tho i have almost 10 years ncb built up

exactly what i am doing
car must not be in my name
