Selling a car from the north?

smashin lookin car
lots of luck sellin it.....
on the road down here for 23k approx
are they worth that much for a 7 yr old car :eek:mg: :eek:mg:

The car is in original P1 spec, no mods. Original Engine.

The price I'm asking is based on the low miles, condition and the extensive history that comes with the car. Car has been extremely well serviced - the timing belt has even been changed twice. Body work, interior are in immaculate condition.

The miles are genuine and I have all the Subaru service receipts from new, plus old MOT certs to back this up. Car is also HPI checked and all is clear.

This is not a rough, badly maintained, over modified or abused P1 - hence the asking price.

But - anyway back on topic :)

From what has been said in this topic I guess there would be interest in the south and one way or another the VRT/import hassle wont put people off.

Thanks again folks for the interest.

Perfect answer mate

BTW I wasn't attacking the price asked, just prompting you to add in those details that will sell this car at that price :)

IMO the car is worth the money, remember the P1 is 7/8 years old and has always attracted a premium so depreciation won't be as severe as another subaru.

Best of luck with the sale, if you'll take a part-ex STi6 I might even consider it myself ;)

Nice Car Mate  (I would say that though :D )

IMO the P1 is worth that kind of money but won't attract the ordinary buyer.....
I'm sure if you are patient you would sell it but you may be quicker selling it in NI as the VRT puts alot of people off....

Cheers.

Alan.

I know she's 7 years old but she is a minter and who wouldn't give their right arm for a P1. I would love to have buy this car as a weekend warrior and track car. I've always wanted one. Maybe in another few years I'll have herself driving something sensible with nappy fillers strapped into the back seats and I'll treat myself to a P1.

IMO it would be better to try and sell her down here before the VRT and Road Tax chagnes which are coming into effect onthe 1st July. After that date this car will be VRT'd at the max rate and the road tax will also be 2,000 per year so your only chance of selling in the Republic is to sell her before July 1st.

the road tax will also be 2,000 per year[/quote]

This is no longer the case, its only the VRT that will go up, 30% to 36%, the road will still be based on the cc of the car.

Why would the timing belt have been changed twice at 34,000 mile?

Am I wrong in thinking that it is not due for first timing belt change till 60,000?

Timing belt would be 60k miles or 5yrs - whatever comes first.

BUT - any enthusiast will change more often, better to be safe than sorry, a replacement belt etc is alot cheaper than engine rebuild.

The service interval is a bit different on P1s its every 36months or 30k miles for the timing belt. Hence why its been changed twice.

I agree the P1 is not for an ordinary buyer - and unfortunately this cuts down the market - as most see it just as a 7 year old classic.

If anyone is looking a very clean, low mileage P1 please get in touch - I am open to sensible offers. I will post in the for sale section soon with more details.

Thanks lads

Not advertised yet - hope to get an ad and pics put together over the weekend when I get a chance to do it properly.

Thanks.

A mate of mine sold that P1 in mullingar! There was 115000 mile on her but all work was always done when needed. Nothing fishy about it! :subaru:

Fair enough - just sounds VERY cheap considering the VRT is €7k.... which means you would have to pick one up in the UK for about £6.5/7k..... (and I haven't seen any for that price.....) but hey sure somebody got a good deal

Alan.

@Pete & dp639

Lads this is going way off topic - if you wanna have a personal chat use email - this is a public forum.....
(I have removed all off-topic posts)

Alan.

Alan that P1 sold for €14500 in the end!

The Rack was gone on it! He was going to fix it but the lad that bought it said he'd fix it himself!

That and the milage i'd say where the reason that that one went so cheap!

I'd say that a low milage spotless one like the one on offer here would go for a lot more! :ponder:

All depends on the market at the time to of course! :subaru:

A car salesman once told me that once a car has above average miles for its age then the garage deduct Eur 1,000 per 10,000 miles over what it should be for its age as a rule of thumb. On that basis that car in Mullingar sold at the right price.
