She broke down on the M4 this morning ( SORTED ) !!!!!!!!!

Middle Lane Hogs
Well I was going to work when she wouldn take the boot and found it hard to hold the revs, so she cut out so I started it again and was running as if a boost pipe was off the inlet but there grand, so I limpped it a bit further to pull in and check engine light came on when she was droppin the revs more so from 2000 under, then she was hunting between 500-1700. Then she cut out, so got out and dis connected the airflow meter and was perfect for a few seconds then she cut out. Plugged it back in and she would barely fire so towed it to work and when I got there I checked the faults to find idle control valve and air flow, also when she does start I select a gear and she dies before I let up tue clutch, im thinking its the idle valve or air flow.........any ides

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

Disconnect your battery for 30min to clear the fault
Do fault code again, but it sounds like your maf is fooked to me
Could give the idv a clean with some carb cleaner

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

Guess its time to run Mafless Smick and get that HGV speed limiter removed :multijump: :multijump:

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

Hopefully just something small

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

Put in an airflow meter and she is running better except she wont idle she hunts and I can hold the revs but as soon as I select a gear she dies, so idle air control valve next

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

Did you check your fuel pump? You should hear it whirr in the fuel tank when you turn the ignition on. :dontknow:

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

Rip in the air intake pipe under the manifold?

Re: She broke down on the M4 this morning

nope, think it might be an earth prob or an ecu prob will know more tomorrow :icon_cry:

inlet manifold bolts all tight had a similar problem and found bolts wer loose

Would make it idle high at 2.5-3k revs

After all the searching for the prob, I put a sti ecu into it to see if that cures it and she is a1 now. Maybe its a sign she wants to get a power fc or simtek haha

great news, try for a simtek be worth it imo,ya see them poping up for around 500gbp in the uk without the new alcatek update or about 700 with it
