Show us what else you have in your Garage!!

Good luck with the new digs!

Thank you! It's sooo close now to finalized! This house-buying stuff is not for the weak-hearted or impatient here... In America, if you have the credit, you can go from offer to approved in only a few weeks! It has been over six months and we have not had any hang-ups with the buying process, just "solicitor tennis." I will probably not believe it is ours for a while!

I want a garage

Dont worry, you will one day!! It would be nice not getting rained on at random! I can't wait to be able to take a break mid-project and NOT have to put away absolutely every tool and part... This applied to me almost everywhere I lived, except Idaho...
California: People would steal anything not nailed down- and some things that were!
Dublin and Missouri: It will rain on your stuff if you take a 5 min break
Arizona: Similar to CA, but things left out would become too hot to use and people would still manage to steal anything not nailed down. When it is 110F(42C-ish), and the sun beats down on your wrenches, you can't pick them up if you aren't working in the shade after 20 mins!
Nothern Idaho: I only needed a pop-up garage because it only misted every morning and was sunny 25C each afternoon. And people never bothered the "Tent Of Tools!"\

Just another place for crap to accumulate. Have to empty mine out again . There goes my holidays :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

Yeah, judging by how much stuff WAS in this garage, a LOT of crap accumulates in them! This one was less potting shed and more catch-all! I hope the guy leaves all the industrial shelving! I also said that he could just leave it as-is and I'll look after everything :p Those ladders, generator, etc.. but sadly, he uses them for his business and they were the first things to be grabbed up! :p

I finally moved into my new house in February... after first seeing it the May before and 2 months worth of negotiations had sale agreed early July --> almost 8 months later before sale went through and could move in ! Aarrgghhhh...

And the year before another house with similar timelines which then was withdrawn from sale AFTER contracts were signed and mortgage was drawn down (couple fell out over sale) :shock2:.... Good things come to those who wait though, so I'm sure it will work out for ya -- and all the sweeter when you finally do move in. :thumb:

It's not such a bad way to spend holiday time... Getting paid to clean your castle! :p

I actually enjoy cleaning my garage, car, house, etc... I've seen first hand how quickly things degrade if not kept free of dirt and grime! I had a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0L 5spd and kept it gleaming from the first day I bought it to the day I made the stupid mistake of trading it in, trying to save money... A newer truck with cheaper insurance ended up NOT being cheaper- especially since it lasted only about 8 months (because the previous owner thought it wasn't necessary to do basic maint and it died an awful death.)

Bought back my 24th birthday present and gave her a revamp!
Won a good few top Irish events on her.
100% reliable.

She's 2.0Tdi, beast in size, not in power although it's some change from the 1.7crdi IX35.

Like a kid with it at the minute, needs bigger wheels IMO but that will happen over time , on the look out for RS6 or TTRS 19inch wheels

That'll be my next car... 09+ A6 3.0 Quattro... Or an allroad. Cracking cars

3.0tdi is a peach... great power and very reasonable on fuel for its size... reliable too. Quattro system, especially in the A4 and bigger is brilliant.

Had a 2003 Allroad... very troublesome and would not recommend that generation anyway.
The 2.5tdi is soft as cannot handle the "long-life" servicing (too long and engines crud up and wear cam lobes = €4500 repair - and that is with a full dealer service history from new). BTW, the other diesel engines also suffer from the same "long-life" service issues, but the 2.5 goes that little bit quicker. If serviced every 15k kms all is good, but leave the service longer as per the long life regime and expect it die between 160-200k km and sometimes sooner). The air-suspension may be ok for the first 160k km, but after that things start to go wrong... €2500 for 4x new bags... €1500 for pneumatic control valve block... sensors €150 a piece (all main dealer fitted prices). Are hard on tyres too (weight and geometry is a compromise due to height adjustability). In theory the Allroad is great, and it certainly is comfortable, but handling is compromised and you need deep pockets when living with one due to reliability issues and maintenance.

Lovely A6 , great car when there fresh like that one. Time doesn't do the audi's any favours with fidley issues.
