Smell of petrol in cabin of car

just had a prodrive sports decat downpipe, de cat mid pipe and hks cat back system fitted to my 2006 blobeye sti (irish car) with uprated hrc fuel pump, panel filter and mapped on the same. car is driving brillant but have now started to smell petrol in the cabin of the car. its idling normal and there's no dash warning lights on. i smelt nothing immediately after remap and it appears to be only bad when i start car and drive it easy, when i drive it on it disappears, it is overfueling or excess unburnt fuel in new exhaust system, leaking fuel pump?? any suggestions welcome, thanks
 
one of the lads on here was telling me about the same problem he was having on his jap blobeye this week, looks like when the fuel pump was fitted the gasket that fits around it was bent or kinked and allowing an amount of petrol to blow past the gasket into the car ,
 
The spring clips that are one the fuel lines around the pump couldn't handle the extra pressure of a new pump. I had to fit a new pipe from one side of tank to other aswell. I've a legacy so impreza could be different
 
Gasket on pump assembly was perfeft.

Is it there every time start from cold?

Is there at high and low fuel levels?

The clips on the fuel lines in engine bay and under the manifold (which cant get at) etc sometimes need a nip.

Drop in next day passing.
 
anything to do with fuel get it looked at quick!

you don't want an expensive BBQ!
 
cheers for that, the smell only starts when i turn on igntion and fuel pump starts. smell is there when car is stationary regardles of whether it is cold or hot, as soon as i start moving it goes away, ill get it checked tomorrow, thanks for that

:thumbsup: got the problem sorted, fuel filter leaking, i noticied smell only there when heater on which was bringing odour in from engine bay. petrol was dripping from fuel filter and had got so bad i could actaully see it coming out of fuel filter today. it looks like the seam in fuel filter failed, anyway cheap fix thank god and shes back to full health. :banana:
 
I had the exact same think on my legacy from cold start. Turned out to be a small leak on tje fuel line behind aircon unit. It was dripping slowly at night and had a little pool then when I ststred it then the heat would make it evaporate quickly. I fixed it with new brauded fuel line and new fuel line clips. The ones with the bolt through them
 
yeah i had heard that was a common fault with subaru fuel lines and was dreading the thought of trying to trace source of petrol leak, thankfully leak got so bad it was easy to spot, new fuel filter sorted problem and no smell since
