Soon to be Scooby owner

Well hello all, this is my fist post here and as it looks like I’m finally going to bite the bullet and get my first Scooby it should be the first of many. I’m fairly handy when it comes to the mechanics but just have a few questions as my mechanical knowledge of the impreza is limited. They mightn’t be everyone cup of tea but I’ve always wanted a wagon and have my eye on a 95 impreza jap import. It’s kept very standard and in good nick, and the current owner has it for over 5 years. It drives very tight and the engine seems spot on but it has 180km on the clock but has been regularly serviced and belts done on the last service is this high mileage for these engines? There has been no rebuilds done on the engine. The only other things is the power steering pump is leaking looks as if it’s from the bottle itself but worst case and I had to pull out the pump is this a straight forward enough job on the impreza? I can get a pump for £50 on ebay so don’t mind if I need to replace it as long as it’s not a nightmare to do on these cars. Any other bits to look out for or is it just the normal bits and pieces? Thanks for the advice lads and hopefully I’ll be a Scooby owner very soon. Great site by the way lads.

Welcome along

is it mapped for irish fuel? 5 yrs is too long to drive it without it being mapped. try and get one that mapped already, or buy one off a jap dealer with service history and at least you will be the first owner here and take it easy until you get it mapped.

welcome along lad   :subaru:

I've nearly 170K on mine and still going strong, great engines once they are looked after

A 95 wagon would be fine here on irish fuel as the best japan would have had at the time was 98 octane so the ECU would have been able to adjust as you can see yorself seeing as it has lasted 5 years and still in good nick

Cheers lads for the replies, There is some serious bargains out there at the minute and if I could squeeze a little bit more cash I'd go newer but we all have to start somewhere lets hope it's not just a black hole. I'll post up some pics when I get the new motor on the road. Cheers Adam.
