sorry to crash thread but whats the story with the Cat D, C's etc. what do they mean

cat c/d means its had a an accident and insurance pay out
cat a/b means the car written off and part mite be availible or crushed

Cat D means that the vehicle has suffered light damage but whether the insurance company will repair it or not is dependent on the cost of the repairs and the value of the vehicle.

5 categories...A B C D F. Cat A being a complete write-off and not even worth selling for parts i.e it should be crushed. Cat F is fire damage. Cat B means that the vehicle has been heavily damaged and the insurance company has chosen not to go ahead with the repairs. Cat C means that the vehicle has been heavily damaged but repairs have been carried out.
