Sprayed my wheels (Finished Today)

I wouldn't think they need to be taken off.

I took mine off because there was a good few on them from getting tyres fitted and the fitter not bothering to take the old ones off and starting afresh.

Also if you spray over the weights and then need to take them off at some stage half the paint will come off with them.

Also if you strip the paint and respray them, then they won't be correctly balanced anyway because of the new paint..

andy how many can of spray and primer did you use as i am going to attempt mine the weekend...did u use steel wool when getting it back to the metal or was it just sand paper

1 can of primer (large can 400 or 500ml I think) will do 2 wheels. So I used 2 cans. Same story with the black.
To get the wheels back to metal I used a full can of Nitromors. 3 coats required on each wheel. Hand sanding between each coat to get the gold off. Then I used a drill with a small round steel wool attachment to go back over the whole wheel to get a shiny bare metal finish.

i doubt you will need to go back to the bar metal, just make sure there is a good keyed surface for the new paint to stick to, clean, hand sand, clean should be grand

I sanded and painted the wheels of the skyline before!
So much sanding and cleaning!
Never again,
Fair play to those who have the patience, I don't!
