Hi lads,

I got two new 4 pots today for the wrx. I'm going to paint them red and just wondering what primer etc I would want to use... They seem to be galavnise dipped and iv no idea what to prime them with.

Cheers

I sprayed mine with high temp primer, normal spray and high temperature lacquer. Left the paint for days but the paint didn't cure until it was brought up to temperature a few times, by that stage they were covered in shite. If I was to do it again I'd bake them in an oven for a while, but more than likely I wouldn't bother my bollix.

Cheers Dec, I thought about the etec alright as I had used it on wiper arms before. Probably on your advise... But wasn't sure bout using it on the callipers as they were galavise dipped. Thanks for the info, oh and I have the ford radiant red on standby!

Jesus anto Ill be hoping that won't happen!

no hassle martin

@anto you probably were using paint 10years out of date cos it was cheap :falldownlaugh:

What's the best way to strip old 4 pots of rust and paint? Was going to use a wire wheel on a drill, or would this be too hard on them? Was going at them with a wire brush but literally getting nowhere.

:thumbsup:drill and wire wheel or grinder and wire wheel and drill for the tight areas will strip them in no time

A thick coat of paint panther. Leave for an hour. When the paint blisters dab more paint panther into it. Wait an hour. Power house and voila.
