Hi all!
I am on the lookout for a 97-99 Type R (i dunno am I mad and the price of crude oil :cuckoo:) I have looked at a few 98's already and nothing has really caught my eye. i have a budget and I want to stick as close as I can to it. What do ye think is a fair price for a 97 or 98, fairly clean on the outside and not massive power (around 300bhp)

Advise v5/v6 as can be ecuteked and buy one with big ends knocking and rebuild..

Therefore knowing wat you have..

Ya i see what your getting at. Seemingly this big end problem in common?? Is it just on V5's and v6's?
Roughly what sort of twine would you be talking for a rebuild?

no not as a rule of thumb narrow down to version. A big end failure 9 times outta 10 is for a reason and owner/ mods/ servicing normally route cause.

And that depends on damage. Other builders get cars back on road but don’t renew most of gaskets and seals they should etc or renew some necessities like oil pumps and oil modines. The difference in price of not doing job the correct way between builders could be as much as 1k in difference. But this will come back and bite if your holding onto the car long term..

You also may decide to go semi or fully forged or stroker type options. Also without having said failed engine apart would only know then wat it will need..
