steering rack question

Hi all,

just a quick question before i fork out the money for it
driving a 2000 legacy b4 rev-c, my steering is a bit dodgy, specially on the last 10% of the end
(knocking, jumping etc)
nearby garage breaking a 2000 legacy impreza wrx and can get my hand on a rack from it
would it be a simple change or modifications needed
sure the the one is 2,5 and i gues mine is more for turning

Are you guessing or have you had somebody look at it? If its jumping then it might be the power steering pump rather than the rack, if there's a knock, it could be the track rod ends just as examples.

Rack is different in the wrx ,
I have seen this before , have you tried changing the fluid . It takes atf dextron 3 fluid not power steering fluid.
If it doesn't cure it and it's not the pump I have a rack there

i was suspecting the pump because she drives hard on low rpm sometimes nearly inpossible to turn in , just a bit of rev and smooth again
the knock is coming when i move the steerung to the right at any point...
i have new oil i think its powersteering one... i think i get the dextron 3 and give it a go myself
she goes on a clutch change in the comming week so i ask it to be checked too
