Strange noise

Hey Guys,

Have a strange noise that's just started up the last day or two. Doesn't happen from cold but when shes warmed up.

Best way i can describe it is if you were shaking a glass bottle with the bottle cap inside.

Any ideas?
 
If its any help it sounds like its coming from the very front of the engine.

Its doin me nut in. Not like i've been zippin around either. Find it hard to go past 60khm with an auto :zzzz:
 
can have a look for u tomorrow or over weekend to see can i help?

there is fan connectors down the bottom of the radiator fan shroud that often come loose, might be worth a look.
 
Em get it towed back wouldn't be running it till sure pullies not ready to fall off

could be that long bolt that the alternator pivots on, you need to loosen that when changing those belts to drop the alternator down, i forgot once or twice to tighten that back up myself. Did it only appear since the belts were changed?
 
The noise or rattle has since ceased. (just as i was going to take it to the mech for a look mind you!)

I've looked up the symptoms of detention i.e. 'sounds like someone rattling a can of marbles'.

That is probably the best description of what i heard.

I find it hard that it would actually be that though as I've been on E5 and rarely going over 60khm never-mind puttin the foot down.

I'll monitor it over the week to see if it comes back.

There is a fault on the computer for the o2 sensor heater, any idea how much they go for?
 
if its the front o2 sensor nearest the turbo, which is common to go, its 330 euro from subaru, can be gotten for about 70 euro or so from Japanparts i think
