Subaru Concept Hybrid Tourer

I'd like to see the power and torque figures for this new turbocharged 2.0 direct injection engine which will surely end up under the bonnet of everything from the Legacy, Forrester and WRX within the next few years. Actually it can't come soon enough as emissions based taxes are killing all but Subaru's diesel engine at the moment. I can see this engine under the bonnet of the rwd Toyotaru next year.

Yeah long overdue..maybe get back to the 2.0 over here and lower co2 should dramactically lower the price of a new sti

Sounds great,
Predictable enough when you think about it! So now it will have the Veriable valves on inlet and exhaust cams, direct injection, and help from electric motors,
What do you think will be next??
I think they'll go smaller capacity and a fancy veriable vain turbo or something!

I like the look of her, not very subaru, ie. looks like most other hatches! but sure, the current model does that already!

From the press release it looks like Subaru will be introducing Stop/Start technology ....."The implementation of a non-idling function that stops the engine when the car comes to a halt reduces unnecessary fuel consumption". I can't see this on a WRX or STI any day soon but you never know. Subaru HAVE to get their emissions below 225 co2 and mpg above 30 mpg (eg Ford Focus RS) before we will see "affordable" new WRX's and STI's again. As the Audi TT RS and BMW 335i have shown you can get big power with low co2 and good mpg in performance petrol cars.
