subaru diesel problem

i think theres two other diesels in the club both impreza models but i don't think their noisie. i've been in one of them so i know that ones not for sure and i've talked to the owner of the other which i think is a diesel and she's very happy with it.

Only a year old, I'd be back in the garage under warranty... If you know how to get it to happen, then take one of the mechanics out for a drive and show him... They'll just try to fob you off as much as possible...
Brother-in-law having problems with '08 legacy diesel, think there was noise from gearbox, garage had car for almost 2 months they replaced clutch in the end. Car is itermittently cutting out now, back at dealer, don't know outcome yet, subaru trying to make light of the problem

I have taken mine to 2 dealers and the main guy from dublin came to see it but they always check it when its not knocking. One of the mechanics agreed that it was knocking but he said speak to the boss because he's more qualified. I was then told the knocking was normal diesel knock which is ridiculous because it sounds like a tractor. The noise on the gearbox, is it like a vibration running through it when you go through the gears?? Mine has had that for 3mths and, it was in yesterday and the mechanice said he tightened the exhaust cos it was rattling!! It is no diffferent so its going back in again next week. I am totally sick of it and i'm a real fan of the legacy.

Noise was as you describe, his brother who is mechanic told him it was definetely gearbox, subaru said it was flywheel, ended up with gearbox being replaced not clutch as I said earlier, someone from dublin looked at it also. 'Cutting out' not sorted yet, stopped dead on my sister going 'thru roundabout other day
