Subaru out of WRC

and we were told that was the reason they stopped making salon versions of the car cause the shorter wheel base ones could compete in the rally world as was proved by the fords and the citreon , so no there out of rally and ruined the impreza in the process. some great decision making there

Just heard on the news that there will be a swrt team at rally Ireland :dontknow:
As Eric said think they made a bad call with the last impreza :cuckoo:
They should give the people what they want a drivers car back to basic's

i sick to the teeth hearing about recession and job losses etc..etc..etc. AND NOW SUBARU OUT OF WRC....

I THINK THE WORLD GOING DOWN THE PAN AND WE WILL ALL END UP LIKE MAD MAX BUT INSTEAD WE
WILL BE DRIVING BATTERY POWERED sh*t BOXES

Subaru are putting a team in for Rally ireland so we have one last dance with out beloved SWRT.

Cann't wait.

Very sad lads.
Mitsi sad they would be back at some stage when they pulled out and havnt come back so I can imagine Subaru will be the same.

As reported in Rally Sport Mag (Australia)....

Top Irish rally driver Derek McGarrity says that he expects the Prodrive Subarus of Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson to be on the start line for Rally Ireland, despite Subaru's withdrawal from the WRC on Tuesday.

McGarrity has been closely associated with Prodrive for almost 10 years, competing in their vehicles with much success.

In an interview in the Belfast Telegraph, McGarrity said:

“I fully expect Prodrive to go ahead and run the cars even without the official backing of Subaru. This decision came out of blue and the management at Prodrive had very little time to prepare for it or react to it.

“But I know they are now looking at all the options and that includes going ahead with their World championship programme as a non-manufacturer team. Their entry fees for the year are already paid and the accommodation for the team for Rally Ireland is booked,” he said.

“They have already been testing for next season and developing the latest Impreza, the S15. From what I've heard, I'm fairly confident they will go ahead.

“One of the problems Prodrive have had is that Subaru Technica International in Japan have refused to allow the cars to run with sponsorship. Ever since the famous 555 sponsorship ended, they have insisted on the cars appearing just in their own blue and gold colours.

Prodrive will now be free to look for outside financial support, just as Ford and Citroen have done,” he added.

That certainly tallies with what you were saying last night Jamie, Prodrive must have had no idea this was going to happen, now hopefully Subaru will let them run for the year like Kronos did for Citroen.

fookin happy days lads rally ireland and the rest of the wrc calender is back on because the one and only team is back :subaru:
