Subaru statement regarding the 2008-2009 STi typeUK engine.

If I was one of the owners that engine failed I'd not be to happy with that. I wonder was it a recall on the cars here as well.Im guessing it should be. They say the petrol should be 97 ron. I find it hard to believe that they are blaming having it on a track I mean its an sti people do tend to drive it on after all thats what made the brand it is.

Nicely put together by the lawyers

Now everytime I see someone post the words subaru, engine and chocolate in the same sentence Im going to post that link

A lad up on scoobyireland had his engine blow after 6,000miles :shock2: ... As well as the hatch sti's, i think some of the 2.5 uk hawks were also affected...

Good find. More bad press for Subaru, it goes to show the power of discussion boards and forums if an OEM like Subaru is putting out official statements to respond to concerns.

To be fair, They don't say you can't do track days, "racing, time trials and rallying" I don't beleive trackdays would be included???
I wonder would they say the same about the the hawk 2.5 sti motor? as far as I know, the piston design in the hatch 2.5 is different to the hawk!
I heard that when subaru are rebuilding a hatch motor under warrenty, they swap out the pistons for a different set!
