what size and make injactors would you advise for type r sti version 6 :ponder2:

the car has apexi power fc, full exhaust system uprated fuel pump 255lph and bailey dv.
thanks lads

Hey Dave
No other major mods planned, at the moment she is boosting at 1 bar, and if a go over the apexi fc says that the injectors are at 100% capacity? Wouldnt be boosting over what she is at now but if it would be safe to boost to 1.2 bar would be interested in getting bigger injectors to do so :ponder2: got a dyno sheet when i bought the car and it stated 290bhp and 350ft/lb

would say it was 350nm not lb/ft.............

And ignore 100% bit as injectors are fine to 320bhp and with fuel pump and uprated reg such as fuelab to 350bhp so you do not need injectors with your above mods watsoever.

Thanks dave
just wondering if it may be a mapping problem with my apexi as the check engine light will flash a warning when the apexi says the injectors are at 100% if i boost over 1 bar? i already have the car restricted @ 6000rpm but if a adjust my boost anything over a 1 bar, the check enging light will flash at around 5500rpm as apexi is saying injectors are @ 100% :ponder2:

Something sounds very wrong...

With your mods as above 1.35bar would be fine with only fuel pump.......

ill look into it, it doesnt affect its driving or wont flash up the check light with standard ecu in the car, even with the apexi in it and at a higher boost the check light will flash but she drives perfect pulling upthrough the revs as normal, took the car to a fella and he said the check light was a warnig light from power fc to say injectors where at max, this fella doesnt deal much with subaru but does map apexi for silvia and skylines. any suggestions on what do from here? thanks

Are you sure the check light is flashing because of high duty cycle? I wasnt aware the apexi power fc did that however it will defiantly flash the check engine light if excessive levels of knock are detected. What boost was the car mapped to? If only tuned at .8bar then you cant turn boost up to 1bar as the parameters of fuelling and ignition timing would not have been set by which ever tuner mapped the car. Have you a hand commander with your apexi? in monitor setting on the commander go to either 4 channel and select knock as 1 of the channels or go 8 channel where it will be shown anyway. Do a run while watching what the knock reading is going up to. Typically you should not see knock counts over 20 unless you have a loose built engine where its producing noise i.e piston slap.

An run over a cat eye or small bump in road could see knock hit 40-50 etc...

Bad batch of fuel also would raise....

Seriously doubt you will see a knock count of 40-50 due to driving over cat eyes or a small bump on road. Have had apexi power fc's in plenty of cars and never seen this happen. As for bad fuel, yes but if the level is up around 50 due to bad fuel I would stay off boost or add some octane booster to try get rid of the det been detected unless you want to run the risk of ruining your engine.

I had an apexi before that would show crazy knock sometimes, when i say crazy, i mean that if that level of knock was present the crank would of fell out on the ground rather than just bearing go. that been said i knew it wasnt knock as it had been mapped and i was using booster etc etc so in your case maybe get her checked.
I would get her tweeked by someone, and maybe do a few suttle mods before if finances allow, What colour are the injectors? wndring are the right injectors in her?

Hi Mate

I think your car is not mapped for that kinda boost. As Dave knows mine is mapped for 1.45-1.5bar boost on std 440cc injectors and its grand. But during the cold spell a few weeks ago the boost was running a little high aswell as reading from the maf (airflow on you power FC in mV) was coming back higher than what is was when it was mapped for during the summer and the check engine light would give the odd flash due to injectors maxing out. But ever since the slightly warmer weather has come back its running 110% perfect.
Just a thought but Id say you need to get a tweet on your current map done mate. No big problems man but either get it tweeked or lay off the boost until the weather warms up

Rgds

Thanks lads,
I never run the car over a bar anyway to be on the safe side just tried it out that time, i did have a fault with my maf that i learned about over the weekend, so that has been replaced, by any chance would this cause over fueling that would cause my injectors to be at 100% on the higher boost or does that make any sense? :ponder2:

Hi Ian,

Well I think that it can and did for me as I explained above. Someone please correct me if I am wrong but a maf is a type of resistor that a current flows through, as the air passes in through the intake it cools the wire down and therefore alternates/effects the amount of current that can flow through the maf. I think the ECU uses this reading as well as some others to decide how much fuel to inject into the engine. If this reading does not correspond to a value normally read by the ECU at a certain rpm or something like that than it gets confused - Again I think, ha ha maybe Im confused!
This is open for someone to correct me so please do folks!
