How do lads. I'm John. Just stepped away from cars altogether and been using my dad's to get me to and from work (Feckin' killin' me on petrol compared to my Bug!!!). I have a bicycle but the weather at present doesn't allow cycling. :angry1:

Going to drop everything in the new year and try get my bug back home, fix her up and get her back on the road. Was quoted 2k - 2,200 for the repairs so looks like I'll be living on pot noodles for a couple months. :(

Gonna get my full membership sorted when I get paid on Thurs so someone make sure they're online to upgrade me when it happens. :049:

Hello John & Welcome to the Club

I'm sorry to hear about your accident

Let's hope you get your car sorted out early next year :subaru:

Cheers,

Michael

Welcome along

Bad luck with the car troubles, but the lads here will help you out,

with anything you need to know and when looking for cheap parts.

I tried a couple breakers during summer but the car either wasn't same colour as mine or had the same damage. Got quotes from 2 places and they said it's so expensive because nobody made spurious bug parts so they'd have to be ordered from Subaru themselves.

S'all good underneath. It was high enough to miss the wishbone and suspension but the airbox is fecked. The engine was still ticking over after it hit the wall :subaru:

The radiator travelled back a bit at the bottom but it didn't crack and there's no leaky pipes anywhere.

welcome aboard, hope you get sorted soon  :subaru:

give john at subaru salvage parts a ring, he might have what you need 0879338625

I think I'll convert it to blob if it's cheaper. Then I might look in to making a project of it and get some internals done and sticking a turbo on.

Off the top of my head I'll need an intercooler, the turbo, a new exhaust setup, turbo timer. Most likely a new ECU and/or remap?

I wanna try get original alloys back on it too!

welcome along lad and sorry to hear your trouble

if your going the turbo route i would scrap the car you have and buy a original turbo

building a non turbo into a turbo is expensive and you will have the added cost of a front end

but best of luck with whatever you do man

Me thinks maybe grab a little micra or a pug for a run around for a while. Then when the weather allows me to use my bicycle all the time I'll sell it on and wont lose much. Then save like a mother trucker. There is one sweet clean wrx I've been looking at for about a year now. About 2k has been knocked off it since I've been looking at it.

Bug, FSH, completely standard, immaculate inside and out. I'm going to be very tempted in the new year....
