Tapping in engine

Well lads! Brother of mine bought a wrx friday night! Today a tapping came into the engine but goes out of it when you rev it! Then it comes back into it when you let if thick over! Was wondering if its big ends or is there some sort of a hydrolic tensior that can go wrong in them? Its a 94 wrx!

Sounds like hydrolic lifters. Common in v1-2 cars. But get it checked to be sure.............
