Tasty Exhaust!

Was annoying me 2day trying to find out what exhaust was on the car, so dicided to polish it up a bit and see were there any names on it, turns out to be a 5Zigen pro racer cat back exhaust. Have it cleaned up a bit but need to gets me some metal polish to make her sparkle! Worth much do ya reckon? Not floggin it, but seem to be worth a couple of hundred new anyways! :653:

looks like a sweet exhaust fella.... they have a frickin awsome sound off them at mid - upper rev range...

it not a Legacy specific 5Zigen exhaust since they never made one for it as far as i know. Probably a custom made centre section with 5Zigen back box on it. nice sound off it :icon_headbang:

probbly right Dan, i wonder what it will be like in the NCT, its due its first at the end of the month :ponder2:

True Dan, might just get them checked before I go in, was thinkin of fillin up with E5 and a bottle or 2 of octane booster on top for good measure on the day, probbly put the emmissions through the roof though! wouldnt be running lean though

I heard from an ex subaru dealer, that even the odd de-cated scooby has gone through the NCT.

Generally they were thrashed so good an hot, then driven in an tested.

However, i was wondering about Putting a mix of half E85 half normal unleaded in, just for the test.
As the E85 is bound to reduce the emissions.

Now i know the engine runs lean if you use E85, so im talking about running the car empty, put in say 4L of E85 an 4 of normal unleaded. Then as soon as test is over fill her up with the normal.

The odd time if I'd run a full tank of E5, then put in 95, she'd go into limp mode, and you'd get about 2/3 power. Putting in 4 litres of E85 then filling the rest with 95 would stop that happening when E5 wasnt available.

I thought of this before UI cant see it doing any harm if its only for one tank

I wouldnt chance running a full tank of pure E85. It might be ok if you only drove around at low revs, but the engine will run very lean and hence possibly way too hot if you start to sink the boot.
Also heard of guys with un-explained leaks in the fuel rails and pipework when testing E85 over on scoobynet.

Not sure what the new leggys are like but I put mine through with no cats on her and it just about failed emissions, although I did have a rake load of diptane in the tank to help her along

If you still have the catted downpipe you should be fine going through the emissions, just give it a good belt up and down the motorway to heat up the cat before going in

Cheers b4_rsk, i got it checked the other day in a mates garage, emmissions were fine! delighted. Ill give her a good razz before i head im for defo
