I bought my B4 a good while ago now and still haven't received the log book yet? I was on to Shannon and they haven't received it yet! I tried to contact the Prevous owner but his phones always off now and have no other details for him??

I've been told there's a form I can get that has to be signed by a solicitor and sent off but I don't know where to get this form? Anybody know?

I done it a few times get form in tax office one section to be stamped by garage one for cops and one for solicitor back to tax office get book back in post

Form RF134:
https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF134_en.pdf
i had to use this before to get a lost tax book before
had to be signed bye a guard
your problem is that the previous owner is the one who has to sign it
this must be why you have to get it signed bye a solicitor

just googled there and found info below

1. RF134
Standard lost documents form. Completed at your local Garda Station, signed there.

2. Declaration
Signed by Peace Commissioner / Commissioner of Oaths / Solicitor [Must be stamped]
Signed by local main dealer for the car in question, dated, to say that they've inspected the VIN and it is genuine.

After that it's €12 and into an envelope to Shannon.

DECLARATION AND AFFIDAVIT ARE THE SAME THINK I ASSUME SO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

Affidavit forms can be obtained at any of the Motor Taxation Area offices and should be signed in the presence of a Commissioner of Oaths/Practicing Solicitor.
Change of ownership - Person purchases vehicle, previous owner has lost VLC/VRC or person cannot locate previous owner.

For vehicles registered after 01/01/1993

New owner get affidavit completed & sends the form to Shannon directly themselves or take the completed affidavit into the Motor Tax Office who will forward the form to Shannon (there is no necessity for an RF134 form to be completed nor is there a fee involved). Shannon will then update the Computer System with the new owners details and a new Vehicle Registration Certificate will issue to the new owner.

HOPE THIS HELPS

it doesnt have to be main dealer.....any garage can do it....

commissioner of oath normally dont charge but a solicitor will......

you shouldnt have to pay for lost document either as its a change of ownership....

i sent a postal order off before and they sent it back to me.....lol

Alot of info theres lads thanks, but where can i get the decleration form? I Asked the gaurds and they dont know what I'm on about?
Thanks

Garage has to be a SIMI garage and you have to show the car to them so they can record the engine number and chassie number onto the form. I had to do it with the last frontera I bought. No big deal.

Tax office will have them but guards station should have it or you can print off the net!

Doesn't need to be simi garage but it will need to be brought to a garage for them to fill in chassis number and stamp/sign!

Also commissioner of oaths is a good idea cos solicitor will charge a tenner at least!
