In an auction of personalised number plates held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), one of the stars was the plate 'THE 571G', which sold for 26 times its £400 reserve.
Rick Fusari, who runs the Greenford Motors car dealership in West London, paid £10,690 to secure the unique plate, beating a dozen other bidders to the chase.
He said: "Like all motoring enthusiasts I'm a fan of Top Gear, ironically, though, my mum always says she can't stand 'that man' Jeremy Clarkson, but that won't stop me going out and buying a white crash helmet."
If Mr Fusari intends to impersonate the real 'Stig' (whoever that may be), he won't look out of place in one of his two Ferraris.
Cool plate but dunno if id pay 10k for it
