Re: the best birthday present i ever got
Ok still having probs uploading videos and managed to forget the lead to put up the ones off my camera but this is my experience of the day,
we (myself the girlfriend and the baby) arrived on site at about 12.00 where after signing on i had to go through for a safety briefing and then out for 2 demo laps in a bugeye wrx these laps were done slowly with the instructor showing us the best lines as he was driving round the track has a nice compromise of straights and corners with the bends not being to much of a challange on top of the new cars but enough to show you how good the handling is.
After that i was down to drive the GTR first so i went and checked in for it but as a lot of people had chosen it and they only had there it was recommended i went and drove my other cars and then went back to see where i was on the list so i headed across to the Lamborghini Gallardo first.
On getting into the car the instructor come across to ensure the seat was set correctly, mirrors arent used and are set up for the instructor to use in all cars, the cockpit on the lambo is cramped but comfortable and the first thing you notice is the sound of the V10 behind your head even just ticking over it sounds amazing, after a few minutes talking i was told to pull out onto the track the flappy paddle gear box is easy to use although a little bit jerky and the acceleration and sound of the engine as you open it up is going to stay with me for a life.
The steering i found to be similar to the scoobys with the planted 4 wheel drive feeling to it and you can get back on the power nice and early coming out of the bends and start blasting back down towards the next one you know at every stage on the track your in something special and that goes for all 3 cars i drove. Unfortunately after what seemed a very short period of time my 4 laps were up and it was time to head across to the Ferrari F430.
On getting into the ferrari is the cockpit is noticably bigger and it had a proper manual gearbox after the usual couple minutes chat we headed out onto the track, the gearbox was very clunky and a completly different engine note, it didnt seem to have the same straight line speed as the lambo but it felt a lot more agile in the bends being extremely grippy but you needed to be careful enough feeding the power back in while you were still cornering as you could feel the back end getting slippy unfortunately all to quick my time was up again and it was time for the GTR.
On getting into the GTR the first thing you notice is the interior seems a lot more like a normal car although the dash is covered in switchs and there is a big multi function screen in the middle that was set to display various temperatures. The GTR was another flappy paddle job but with the dual clutches the changes were a lot smoother and a lot quicker, it seemed to have similar if not more power than the lambo and it handled like a dream although it did get quite twitchy under heavy braking.
Of the 3 the GTR was my favourite with the Lamborghini a very close second but the pure spectacle of the day was incredible your looking down at lamborghini and ferrari dashboards and your out on the track and flying past ferrari's, aston martin's and audi r8's to name a few its a day thats gonna stay with me for a very long time.
Hopefully this gives you some idea of what its like my writing ability isnt the best but i think anybody who is into their cars should try and do it was 300 pound sterling to drive the 3 cars and get the pictures that are above and the in car filming i may keep her sweet for a while
