The car that killed the rally rep

maybe not a Renault cause after two years they should be scrapped .but that type of car megane sport ,focus RS and at a push opc astra ,I know I would give up a Scooby tomorrow if I could have a mk2 focus RS but I do get your point on the Renault

Same as Dec there I'd love a mk2 RS. I'd have one but a few kids put pay to that..lol

it is quicker on track but id still pick the focus for anyone who hasn't driven on what chris said in one word about the focus sums it up completely !!!EXCITEMENT !!! you feel as if your driving something very special and on the road from my house into town its bumpy, off camber ,big jumps the whole lot and I would not even come close in my wagon to the speed the focus can do it in and with such ease it really is a mental car ask scally :changinggear: :scoobyblue_1: :multijump: ok drool session over :icon_headbang:

to be fair dec the focus rs has class and is a great car it also has a cult following the renault on the other hand will be worth next to nothing .
its renaults own fault because of the cheap shite there putting out. the clio williams was the last great cat renault put out when they cared what people thought of them and there reputation

ye that is true it will be worth nothing after a few years of owner ship where as the focus now is more valuable than when new

Jesus if ya told that when I woke up today I'd be defending bill Cullen mobiles on a thread today I'd a Said your off your head
Must be a glitch in the matrix

No one is claiming they are more desirable than an STI but none of you here buy new cars(me included) so we are irrelevant.

So your 25 years old you just got a promotion and want to celebrate with a new car.

Do you buy a) A Megane sport - 265 bhp but just as quick once up and going as an STI due to lighter weight and less transmission losses, probably does an extra 15 mpg, costs half as much to tax, half as much to insure, if you can even get insured on an STI, has better warranty.

Do you buy b) An STi because of some rally history that happened 15 years ago that has no relevance to you as you probably don't even know who the world rally champion is anymore, and AWD and build quality.

Its a different world now.

Name a few :dontknow: a few clios thats it

This Megane for one..the R26R before it

only renault i ever admired was the williams clio , actually still have a horn for one . wouldnt of even considered a megane or the likes , that was until nurburg trip last year . while passo in baz's wagon on track and moving at a fast pace (his lap times are a credit) a "white megane" passed us like we were stopped . i simply couldnt believe that a renault "in the right hands " could be such a potential giant killer . as a track toy , it seemed to be nearly as popular as a 911 over in germany as weapon of choice.

Thats just it, they perform. It's same thing that faced STi's and EVO's when they first arrived, until they started humbling more established performance cars...modern hot hatches are doing that now.

This Megane just did 8 minutes 7 seconds around the ring
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/megane-smashes-ring-record

costs 25 k sterling ..fastest Impreza around was the the Spec c in the hands of T mak..7' 55"..Spec c's are about 40 grand and probably around 330bhp?

Why would you ever want a hot hatch instead of a rally focused car is beyond me, have no problem with people buying them as a second car, or for a person that isn't too into their cars, but there's just no comparison, evo or an sti is more practical, more power, better handling, more comfort in most cases, and you got the awd for the winter, you cant go wrong.
