There's something buzzing under the bonnet :(

Hi all, hoping for a little guidance/reassurance here...

There's this electrical part under the bonnet, bottom left corner, that today has started buzzing even though the key is out of the ignition. I'm taking the battery cable off when the car is not in use as a precaution.

Can anyone shed any light on a) what the part is called (I haven't a clue), b) what the problem may be and c) how to fix or replace it and d) is it risky driving the car with this problem?

looks like some sort of relay. have you tried taking of the top part to see if any wires are loose or frayed inside,
 
After parking up tonight the buzzing stopped but I'll take the lid off tomorrow and see what's what... I didn't even know what it was so thanks all for the advice and help. Thanks too to 555 for the PM :thumbsup:
