thinking about a legacy

Alright lads. As from my prevoius threads i`m still on the look out for a scooby. i`ve just recently turned my attention to the leggy. Particularly the blitzen model, very nice. I just wanted to ask about it,its more of a general question that an advice one. I`ve spotted a few leggys around but don`t give off tate distinctive flat four sound. Am I wrong or is it only a certain model like the sti version that has it? Are the engines different as the leggy is a twin turbo? Cheers lads.

well none of the 03+ will have boxer rumble since they use equal length headers.

pre 2003 should have boxer rumble unless its a non turbo which i may sound very quiet compared to the twin turbo equivalent

All b4s can achieve the boxster rumble if u fit an unrestrictive exhaust on it. Legacy come just 2 engines twin turbo are 99-04 I think and single turbo are 04 or 05-09 is the newest b4 iv seen. Best of luck wit ur search

Even a standard BE5 Legacy(pre 03) won't make the rumble they have a silencer mid exhaust and a valve in the exhaust which only opens at high revs.

standard they are not really that loud if you are refferring to the 99-03 model BE5.. They have 2 cats and a silencer.. I assume you looking 99-03 are seeing as you are looking at a blitzen... Blitzen model has a porsche designed bodykit wheels and spoiler, same chassis and power as the normal B4-RSK.. Spoiler is a bit marmite, people either love it or hate it.. I personally like it.. Good luck in your search

they also do Blitzen model in 03 onwards, they look very fat though with the Blitzen styling!

If your after somethin like this https://isdc.ie/forum/threads/21993/ you'll need a de-cat downpipe, de-cat centre section and blitz nur spec r exhaust. They generally are a quiet car but there are steps (some expensive) you can go through to get the distinctive boxer rumble

Didnt know that.. Never seen anything like that over here.. Are there many around?

never new there was a bl5 blitzen either and yeah putting a exhaust like b4 rsk is very pricey but worth it for the sound

If you get a mid section, back box there is a lovely sound from it, i have a hks hi power cat back exhaust and does the business  Mine is the be5 model the same as sweetcakes and b4 rsk :subaru:

Older blitzen is much nicer looking. a lot harder to get body parts for though if you do ever have a fender bender!

Southside Automotive used to have one for sale, could have been the one above, interior isn't the nicest on them its a bit :puke:

Where you based? All BE5 twin turbo's have trhat boxer rumble-I suspect you've been hearing non turbos. Mine just has a blitz back box and I consider it too loud-I'll post a clip if I can find it

Here is a video of my legacy GT-B with a stainless steel centre pipe & standard back box with the exhaust control valve disconnected
Sorry its upside down couldnt figure out how to rotate it.

Yeah southside had a red blitzen before they went. It was manky looking IMO, the grille doesnt suit it one bit, and as for the interior, red & black leather, nightmare altogether Few nicer models out there alright

cheers guys for all the info, very informative. It seems like alot of effort to get that boxer sound, but ultimately worth it. I was looking at a 99-03 model alright. I was on tradecarview and saw this lovely looking example with bodykit. granted it an auto but tasty all the same. I`ve always been unsure about the looks of the newer legacy but thought this looked the part.http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan car/subaru/legacy+b4/4587594/ Opinions welcome!!!

Oh I`m based in Kildare. Just wasn`t sure about the legacy, someone was telling me that they are more reliable that the scooby(sorry i mean the impreza) as they won`t be driven as hard? Don`t know if thats true, it doesn`t turn me off a scooby at all but thought i`d give the legacy a good look over. Cheers

Not bad, brembos all round. I like the leather interior although the wood effect trim looks cack, id be swapping that out r wrapping it like altezza dan has done. Theres an 03 B4 for sale on donedeal, cant vouch for the car but much cheaper than tryin to import that yoke, your looking at a few grand vrt on top of that price not to mention shipping. Up to you tho man, your money!

there was a white one too but seems to be gone
