Timing Belt.

Hi Everybody I had bad luck the timing belt broke on my car the weekend,So its in hospital from today apart from the damage caused being repaired what bits can i get done at the same time Thanks John L :(
 
High Speed .But My subaru expert has already told me about bent valves he almost has the engine out so I will know morw over the next few days Many Thanks .

at least it'll be as strong as ever when you get her back...
cant underestimate the point of getting the belt changed even if you havent reached the set mileage....belts perish over time and weaken more rapidly with regular heavy acceleration.....

Folks I have a question I need expert advice should I go for an engine re build or a replacement engine if the damage is bad all advise will be taken on board Rgs John L.
 
Hi John,

I've been looking at new engines myself recently and I've come to the conclusion that a rebuild would cost nearly as much as a new block so you're better off just getting a fresh one. Added piece of mind aswell

John Id go for a newage STi bottom end or STi 9 one for £1200 which is about €1500 , As Cill said zero miles zero history Ali Burrows priced for a couple friends of mine recently. His labour rates are VERY reasonable and hard to match, the fact that he is a proper engine builder with a proper workshop is good peace of mind, plus the fact he's better priced then most.

I think to strip a bottom end and rebuild it was only around 300 quid labour. You would have to check with him though. I remember being very impressed anyway.
