you"d do well to get 4.5k straight, yokes are selling, just have to have them at the money,i rarely have a yoke fore sale more than a week and its gone. but 4.5 is top whack for me on type r

Lots of timewasters out there who won"t buy,its worth what a mans giving you on the day and thens its down to how stuck you are.

doesnt matter a fcuk wether its mapped, what turbo its running,,blah, blah,if its chancey and tidy it"ll sell,if you wanna shift that car, pull the simtek out,rob a few bits, donedeal 3.5k.....sold in hours or days, sell few bits after,

at the end of the day you"ll buy an 06 tdi passat for 6k,thats what most folk want, not a subaru

Yep, went to see it before he got the engine rebuilt. Lower passenger side rear quarter has so much filler that the paint gauge wouldn't even take a reading in places. Whole pass side has been blended to match. Engine bay would need tidying, possibly new turbo judging the the amount of gasket sealer seaping out around the edges. Interior is clean and no rust that i could find. You'd need to pull off the rear panel and have a look in behind the panel to see the full extent of the quarter panel damage and be prepared to strip it and get it repaired properly. From my impression, it was a botch repair.

Never seen it in flesh, it was on here for sale with engine gone i think.. Even if it was mint and with the rebuild sad to say imo 7k it would struggle to make.. Money just isnt in them and from whgat im hearing lately... its actaully only getting worse and worse

you wont show me links cos they arent out there but hey that just my veiw as you have yours!!
i never said i wanted quick sale ever all i said was i want money/cash not a px against car
did i see it got rebuild???dont think so???am i wrong

as earlier said(wording might no have been the best)but before the leak was identified to seal engine cleaned was used to clean under neath to find exactly where oil was coming from and between that and while belt was off oil was noticed on belt didnt think just a wipe down of cloth would do so bought new one :)

when you say engine 1 k whats included bear or with turbo etc??
i was thinking more 2k for shell but that ok its in same rough price as yours
im not out to have disagreement with you at all and thanks for your reply

Look, your only making yourself foolish by saying this like i cant post links cause they aint out there..
Billys 99 V Limited sold on here for around 4500, I was ment to go look at one a month ago for 3600 iirc up in Cavan and it was sold before i got up..
On the rebuild thing, i presumed with your 7k price tag it was rebuilt, fact its not just makes your valuation even more crazy..
Your prices are all based on these cars 2 yrs ago..
For example why would anyone give you 2k for a rolling shell when a full car can be bought for 3k???
And usually when someone posts the needs money it means asap and not in near distant future.
I really dont know what to say to you...as im finding t hard to make you out really fella..

Im sure Froggy will tell you about breaking a car and its hardship. If you cant get your head around getting 4500 for it, put car back to standard and sell the parts.. Standard exhaust, wheels, ecu etc etc, you could end up with say 1200 worth of parts to sell and get 4k -4500 for the standard car... sad to say but the extras wont get you anymore when they are in the car

You wouldn't even make 7k breaking a 6 speed JDM bug would you? it's total madness and is a total contradiction ,that someone selling a super clean car who is really confident in it's value, would even consider breaking it.

Red paint has probably flaked off. Mine has all but disappeared off my manifold.

Nope, you'd be lucky at making 6-7k just trying to sell a nicely cared for & remapped JDM STI.

In my opinion, being in the market, I hold the same points as Robbie and Ken above. The sooner you swallow your pride and bite the bullet that no matter what you do, you're going to make fu*k all, the better it'll be for you.

advice taken on board
first bump on dd add edited and price dropped for cash sale
the amount of px/swaps is shocking

I'll be straight up as I would have been interested in the car myself if the price was any way realistic. I know you've dropped it a grand but you are still about a grand away from the top end of what your asking price should be.

Yes, it is a pretty good spec car but when yo bottom line it, it's still a near 14 year old '98 Version 4 with 100,000miles on it. Any potential buyer will look at that and say €6k for that when it will most likely need an engine rebuild in the near future, and new turbo too with the standard 1 boosting 1.6bar. Thats the way I'm looking at it

Basically, you can add on all the mods you want but if there's no rebuild in its recent past, then it will probably need one in the near enough future. It might be worth the money you're asking if it had a rebuild in the last 15,000kms but not without it.

when you see 2006 sti's with 30k on the clock for 13500 https://isdc.ie/forum/threads/29177/ you have to realise that surely even at 6k your car is well above where is should be pricewise , even 2006 wrx hawkeyes up for 10,500 , if a 5 year old newage is up for that kinda money how do you justify your price ?

i bought my sti last year and had it for a bargain due to nobody else been interested in the car , and to see them down to 13500 now makes me sick , but it doesnt matter to me as i aint selling up . its a buyers market mate and thats just it ,

Car would be mapped to 1.45 bar and tail off Robbie.

Thank christ for that, 1.6bar in the add and i was a little shocked when i saw it still on a standard turbo :icon_omg:

Hi CBarry,

Perhaps consider putting it on UK plates and selling into the North and UK. Clean Scoob Classics are still making reasonable money in those areas. Also from personal experience, another avenue would be to advertise these cars in eastern europe. There is quite alot of money to be made from high luxary/performance cars being sold in eastern europe.
At the minute I know of a 2002 5Litre merc AMG which was bought in Northern Ireland for little money and is now being sold into eastern Europe for a considerable sum of money. even though the country in question normally has LH drive cars etc. and this is a RH drive car

It may be worth keeping that in mind. Anyway, it is a lovely Type-R mate and give it some carefull consideration before you make a decision.

Rgds

Paddy
