02 WRX

Was thinking of getting rid of my 02 bug WRX for a classic STI (year 1999 or so).

Am I mad to trade a few years for more power? (And a better looking car in my opinion!)
 
Look hard enough you will find cheap enough bits for your Wrx

For the price of a turbo fuel pump and exhaust system your bug will be quicker than any standard Sti once it's mapped

Turbo can be got for 150+ euro
Full exhaust system for 250+
Remap 250 - 400 euro
Walbro fuel pump 80 -120

Recession busting tuning options are available, you just have to look in the right places
 
Yeah I am in two minds at the mo,

I do prefer the look of the classics also - decisions decisions!
 
its a matter of personal choice...i traded my 03 wrx for an 01 sti
had the car 5 years and was time for a change :653:
 
I done this last christmas, i got rid of my 02 bug and picked up a version 5 type r. I have to say i am much happier with the classic looks, performance and power. :multijump: :multijump:

Would seriously disagree with that.
Speaking from experience, he can upgarde the Turbo, fuel system, exhaust and map the Bugeye and it wont be a patch on a v5 v6 STI..
You are at nothing modding the WRX.
Just buy an Sti.

Also the prices you have listed are very very sugary... i would say double at least the price of map and turbo

Turbo prices quoted from several sales threads on different sites lately

I'm not saying you will get 500 bhp from cheap parts
I'm saying you'll get enough of a power boost to put a smile back on your face and keep you happy in the bug for a while anyway
 
With the Wrx heads andthe weight of the car they arejust slower than a classic.. a 280bhp sti v5 or v6 will seem like its 350bhp compared to a modded 280bhp bug wrx... i done this swap before of a v6 for a modded wrx bug.. worst mistake i ever made
 
Getting very tempted here - sure il have a look around.

I am sure my mind will be made up as soon as I get into one! :icon_grin:
 
My old bug had a full stainless, hks boost controller and a remap but still wouldnt put a patch on my type r... :naughty:
 
dunno about you guys but my bug eye always puts a smile on my face, id probably take on a type r if he tempted me... :dance:
