Regardless of the what the BHP feels like Vitalie... it'lll be the gearing in a Type R that'll leave your bug standing. :icon_nana: One of the most frantic acceelarating cars I've ever driven!!

@ vitalie , from a fellow bug sti owner who also smiles , i wouldnt be so quick to gloat . and believe the boys know what their talkin about !

@ ken " goneby ya my lord " lol

Looks like I have started something here!

Dont get me wrong, I love the bug but it just lacks the power and I can't be bothered pumping loads of money into it trying to upgrade the sh*t out of it.

@ Gonzochicken - I can't PM back but if I make it to the trackday I will give you a shout, cheers man.

Look hard enough you will find cheap enough bits for your Wrx

For the price of a turbo fuel pump and exhaust system your bug will be quicker than any standard Sti once it's mapped

Turbo can be got for 150+ euro
Full exhaust system for 250+
Remap 250 - 400 euro
Walbro fuel pump 80 -120

Recession busting tuning options are available, you just have to look in the right places

Would seriously disagree with that.
Speaking from experience, he can upgarde the Turbo, fuel system, exhaust and map the Bugeye and it wont be a patch on a v5 v6 STI..
You are at nothing modding the WRX.
Just buy an Sti.

Also the prices you have listed are very very sugary... i would say double at least the price of map and turbo

you also have the suspension set up to think off..

i was thinking, there's Tullow Drag races on every 2nd week and everytime im there there's only honda civics, so why don't we all arange a date and have a Subaru Impreza day, its only e30 for the daty, we can all have a go at each ohter, im sure there's few members that would like to proof me wrong, and then we can all sing KUMBAYA....

Hmmmm seems to me a gauntlet has been thrown down!! ** Sits back with hot popcorn n watches with anticipation!!**

There's no real gauntlet anyone who has driven both cars knows a Type R will be quicker...same power ,much shorter gear ratios and lighter...after 100mph it might be different but over 1/4 mile no contest.

I wouldnt feel confident in a BUG STI beating a V5/V6 TYPE R or even 4dr STI OVER QUARTER MILE.
Newage stuff is more refined and just tamer and heavier..
For talk sake
Type R is 1200kg and 300bhp.. thats 250bhp/ 1000kg
Newage STI 1400kg and 300bhp.. thats 214BHP/ 1000kg
This are just simple straight forward figures based on same engine same gearing etc etc, but using that as a guide, to match the Type R power to weight ratio you would Need 350bhp in the Newage.

If you havent experienced a Type R or STI Classic its hard to understand the difference, but i can remember Jumping out of my old V6 4DR STI and getting a drive in a Standard WRX bug, .. And i am not making this up, but up the road i was sure that it was a 2ltr N/A with all Turbo bits on it, i actually had to get out and pop the hood to see if there was a blower on it.
My Type R isnt driving at moment but i am back in progress of getting it going, but im sure someone will be up for a run 1/4 mile with you.

On another note apart from Power... There is no comparison to driving a WRX and an STI.. Just 2 totally different cars

Oh.. and its along time since i felt my Type R Pull 350... when she last graced the roads it had 420 of each. Hopefully soon will be 500 of each... just to round things off :)

id seriously love a spin in a type r to see what the hype is about, got to drive a normal classic sti and our bugeye is faster than it but i no it doesnt have a patch on a type r.
as regarding trading a newage for a classic it depends what you like, if you like a little bit of comfort with power then stick with a newage but if you really want a raw car id go for a well looked after classic preferably a type r

And the short gearing makes huge difference

Here lads, im not bad mouthing the type r, its light and if you got few yoyos to sup up the engine it will erupt like a volcano, im looking to buy a track car and i wont buy anything else but a type r, but the whole thing started that mark didnt want to invest to much money into the bug and that would be cheaper to buy a type r which i think its fake savings.

1) Turbo - €600 (TD05 20G) or ihi 35 turbo good for 340hp @ €250
2) FMIC - €300
3) Clutch - €420
4) Induction Kit - €100
5)Full Decat Exaust System - €400

With VF35 in total little shy of €1500 and with 20G €1850 and that will get him around 340hp and if you want more €4k to forge his engine depending on the spec he's going for, at the end of the day its all about how much money he's got in he's pocket, the world is full of possibilities, there's no margines to what you can achive with your car, a bugeye or type r.... :subaru:

No the moral of the story is dont bother tuning the WRX and spending the money on it when you can buy an STI Bug for 5 or 6 grand... its a no brainer really.. he could throw 2 or 3 grand at the wrx and it still wont be as fast as even a mapped STI Newage, not to mention it wont have 6spd, Brembos, suspension............ the list is endless.. 2 different cars . If he sold his car for talk sak 3k, added 2k instead of modding it he could buy that Prodrive STI everybody is talking about.... Simples

well, im taking off my suspention, he can have them at €80... :icon_biggrin:
just messin, point taken KENC, we'r robbin Mark blind of he's tred, sorry Mark, its all yours now...
