Tuning engine with sti backbox

strange one I know :icon_grin:

is it possible to increase power but keep the standard sti backbox on my '00 type r? for a number of reasons I can't run a 'loud' performance exhaust, I've looked at the apexi exhaust valve controller and the oz varex system
but they seem more hassle than they're worth and i dont want to run a bung I would run a decat no prob, its just loudness thats the issue. ideally I'd like 350bhp. your thoughts please!

Milltek exhaust systems are fairly quiet and are high flowing :thumbsup:

You can get them in 2.5" and 3" with full de-cat or sports cat :thumbsup:

Some of our traders may be able to supply one :thumbsup:

I use one on my car :thumbsup:

thanks micheal I'll look into into them! how quiet is fairly quiet then? :) compared to standard say, off boost?
 
Hayward & Scott also do a standard replacement 3.5inch backbox.. Have one one my B4 and its too quiet for me so I'm getting my mines backbox adjusted so I can refit it..

I am but it won't fit your type r unfortunately unless you get the pipe in the back reworked.. Probably too much trouble but there's a lad in dun laoirghe that can do it.. Thats who I'm getting to rework my mine's motorsport box.. You can get a price on the H&S website for the quiet box :thumbsup:
 
Any system with TUV approval should be within or exceed manufacturers specs including noise level. Only prob is TUV approved gear tends to be pricey. Nick in Couture would be the man to talk to for TUV stuff. 600euro ish for 3" cat back system.

The "Race Box" back box made by Ninja (not TUV) is the only other cheaper back box I've seen that's quiet ish. £195 plus shipping. :thumbsup:
