Turbo Diesel Intercoler

JohnM

Petrolheads
How's it going lads. I'm trying to get a bit more poke out of the Diesel demon (Defender) and was wondering if I change the intercooler to a bigger one will it make a difference?
Also will a front mount for a petrol car do?
Thanks
John

Think you have got a touch of sunstroke der john !

Can she not be mapped or have one of them tuning box's fitted ? might be cheaper 2

Seen them advertised for the latest discovery so can only assume there is one out there to suit your defender ?

east coast customs had an offer on tuning box while back , maybe try them

They only do the TDV6 mines the the TD5
Cheers
John

P.s Did you enjoy Brians Tiger beers

sound! Any ideas where? I know there's a place that remaps Trucks up in cavan?
Cheers
John

Speak to any of the tuners in the country!
East Coast Customs, CDA etc.

One of them should have the software to do a remap or should be able to get a tuning box......

ya can add a front mount to any turbo'd engine from what i understand however its not goina be any benefit on its own! id say turn up turbo pressure along with bigger intercooler if thats the road you go down in the end.....

Thanks lads, I also read that it can be de-catted aswell :ponder2:
With supporting mods it can make over 200bhp
Cheers

Howdy
The TD5 is not the beemer engine! the 6 cylinder 2.5 that was in the old range rover was the beemer engine!
As far as I know, Daveleggy bought the software for most deisel remaps lately! (he's a trader so mentioned him first!)
But also chech out allard aluminium for intercooler kits, and a good bit more, they are a UK based company!
And Martin tracey does try before you buy deals on deisel tuning boxs!

I usually don't like recommending non club traders, but being a landy, I'm sure it's acceptable!

Best of luck!
Dan

Dunno if your familiuar with Kings Land rover specialists in wicklow town ,

they do some serious jobs on defenders , disco's and even rangerovers ,

Look them up they should be able to help

:lolpoint: :lolpoint:
them mad fookers at the top of a hill IIRC....
english bloke and his son!!!!
these lads put scrapheap challenge to shame!!!
know their stuff with landrovers though

There the fellas , they had a range rover with massive v8 and it had been shortened to avoid ground clearance issues , no overhang front or back either and huge off road tyres !!! serious machine off road ,

They have/had a red defender swb and it was a flyer , tried to stick with me over the wicklow gap one sunday a few months back , was well impressed with the handling of it but no match for the scooby :subaru:

Cheers Dan, spoke to Dave awhile ago about it but he only can map the TDV6 one. I'll pop into Martin tomorrow as I'm upthere with a load of topsoil. Tommy Kings are a good company but don't think they are into the performace side of things.
Cheers
John
