Is it not something like u switch off and hide it away then if its in that situation that its working or not or does it have to be disconnected?

Have one, and while it worked, I had no complaints, now, its sometimes working, sometimes not, and drives me mad. If I knew where, Id get it removed

Be only on a harness with wire to earth. And one most likely to handbrake.

I'm terrified of electrics too but this should be ok, check under handbrake surround for one earth and the harness will be plugged into the igntion harness, unlplug everything connected to the TT and away you go
