type r failing test on rear three windows with no e mark???????

i had a subaru legacy befoe that had higher emissions as it was priginaly for the south african market
the owner before me got a letter from subaru head company in japan explaining that this was they way the car was made and the n.c.t. passed the car , not sure if a similat thing could be applied here
n.c.t. is gone ridiculous
ring your man Joe Duffy on live line rte
might highlight this and geting it sorted
absolute madness :cuckoo:

@ Pete: Feckin swines only checking tinted windows :angry1: Ya would imagine that when they are applying these stupid policies that it should be inforced by all to everyone or not at all.

@P1impreza: Fair play fella. It'd be interesting to see if an official import has the E mark.

I've done some research into what the symbols mean on the etched glass monogram on the rear windows. If you look at Kanye from the west's photo of his you will see a circle with what looks like a wiggley line through the centre. It's at the top right of the monogram. Mine has this symbol also on both sides. This means it conforms to JIS R 3211 which is the Jananese equivalent to an E mark for the automotive industry. It is recognised internationally as an approved automotive standard and is accepted in the UK and Australia as E marks when importing a vehicle. If the NCT got their finger out and did some research into their job they would know this, and there shouldn't be any problems. Although I wouldn't fancy trying to explain this to Mr. Dumbo NCT technician :new_argue:

maybe an easy option,
Stickers??
Just make up a little sticker with the appropiate fonts and colour and a very light gauge vynel
I think that will work!! the tester is hardly going to go rubbing his finger over the inside of the window!

Just checked my JDM bugeye and as with all of yours, no E on the 3 tinted windows in the rear. EU market doesnt get rear tints so prob doesnt require the E stamp! Did any one check an EU marketed car with factory tints for the E stamp?

Same here. There are little symbols but think the nct will still fail as no E

Hopefully they will have sorted by september as i wont be changing glass(need a wa***rs smilie)

:smokin:

I emailed NCT head office yeasterday asking the question:

"How can a car be failed for having glass not conforming to safety standards, when the glass is clearly marked with an internationally recognised equivalent symbol (JIS R3211) to E6?" :naughty:

Also mentioned that there may be grounds here to take a case against the NCT, on the grounds of negligence, so that should encourage a response. :1poke:

If/When they respond I'll post the response here.

Anyone got a contact email for subaru Japan, can't find one on the net and my Japanese is a bit rusty :dontknow:

what a load of balls!! they will be checkin how well the car was painted next
dont know why the government are trying to enforce this as the nct is owned by a spanish company and the only money that stays in ireland are the workers wages! its pure bull. in fairness what is a back window with a sticker that has "E" wrightin on it gona do over one without?? at the end of the day is it really gona make any difference? nct is gone behond the joke :angry1: fair enough test the obvious like brakes,suspension......
as said above they are just trying to drive the import cars out of ireland for whatever reason :comp26:
sorry about this rant just had to get it out
