Type-R V5/V6

Hi!
I've been lurking for a bit, but decided to finally say hi!
I'm looking for a Type-R. I already own a V4 but have been toying with the idea of swapping it for a V5/V6. I want it to be a keeper so I'm obviously looking for some nice example. No rust would be my priority. Would be nice if I could drive it back to the continent, but would also be interested in some cheaper project cars with some mechanical defects, as long as those are clearly disclosed.
There's a one on dd which definitely got my attention but I was also wondering if any of you have a car that you might want to sell.

Cheers!

Which one you looking at??

I'm considering importing one from JP, but prices out there don't really seem to be very tempting. Maybe if I managed to buy one on auction, but afaik it can also be a lottery.

I was looking at this one: http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/subaru-impreza-type-r-v5/6171784 Owner claims it's pretty much mint.
And there's also a navy blue v6, which I remember from some previous ad, but the mailage was quite high and owner doesn't seem to like responding to emails ;)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the owner is on the forum that's perfect!
There's nothing wrong with it, at least nothing that I know of.
I would love to go and look at it, but since I'm 2500km away I would love to arrange everything first before booking a flight. Still working out some details.
But IF for some reason the car turns out not be as described and I'm already there, I think it would be wise to have an alternative. Hence my question.

murray555 - why do you think it could be v4? Looks like v5 to me..

if you are thinking of importing one check out jdm auction watch, they're bringing in a lot of decent cars a few mates of mine have used them and are very happy, one of the lads that's bringing in the cars is a forum member here his user name is paddy gt,could be worth contacting him check out their page on facebook

all about grade.

if your budget is low and an importer brings in a grade 3 150km one. not there fault when it arrives and not mint.

imo be 9-10 k for 60-70k grade 4.5-5 type r after all expenses.

That's some money

Worth it though in my experience of importing ,pay the extra and get a car you'll be happy with

9-10k for a Type-R seems a little steep to me. Especially since I need to spend another 2.5k to make a LHD conversion and register it here..
And then would I take such a minter to a trackday once in a while...? Don't think so, it would rather be stuck in the garage, driven on Sundays, when the weather is good enough ;) Is that what it was made for..?

Also for this kind of money I guess could get a Impreza RS (like the one they had in US, LHD 2d coupe) and put newage STI internals in it. A bit heavier but surely more reliable solution and I guess with a potential of being faster.

murray555 - you've got a pm.
