I'm not sure colm, i tried to get a vrt quote on a couple of uk reg's but they didn't come up with anything. Best i could do was guess some details and came up with a firgure of about €900 which i think is wrong. Can anyone get an accurate vrt quote on a type r?

I'd say it would be the same as a 4 door 98 sti. I put in the details and got 1118 euro for vrt. Since their is no type r or 3 door imprezas in the database they would have to go with the quote for the sti wouldn't they

You can get a V5 in 98, be last of 1998.. and with registration crap can be a 98 v5 same as a
00 Sti7

I heard of it being actually dearer when you present yourself to the vrt office or is it even now the n.c.t. centre aswell
i remember during the boom the vrt office where supossed to be watching what people where enquiring about on the vrt calculator and where increasing the rate on the cars that where most popular in searches :comp26:
vrt a double jeporady tax
only in this country :icon_blahblah:

I think rather than paying so much to import one via the robbing cnuts in the VRT, I think I'd have to just upgrade my search to a 2003 JDM Twin Scroll Blobeye instead :hammerhead: :hammerhead:

Hard to know, if the right one came up, might be worth a trip over

Dont know what that pistonheads seller is on about when they say Type R RA. No such thing. I think they are a little confused.

I think its really just a matter of patience until something comes up here that I really like. I think it would strtch me too far to import one from the UK, and I just couldn't justify the price to myself. There have been a few cars I've seen over the 6-8 months that I have really liked but wasn't in a position to buy at the time.

I figure its just a matter of time before they start popping up again

Benn keeping an eye on type r's for you Rob have to say they are much better value in Ireland...if you where going to pay vrt might as well get one straight from Japan

Push your budget a bit and you could be in a really nice newage...low miles full histroy

I love the blobeye imprezas and if i eventually give up on finding a type r, i'll just buy a blob JDM twinscroll and work on that. But a budget is not what's stopping me going to a newage though, the main reason i want the type r is because I want the raw, no compromise drive that it offers. It will only be an odd weekend, trackday car so comfort is not a factor  .. I really just want something to have fun in
