uprated pistons

Sunday Drivers
hi guys bought an rb320 its up to 395 hp , i was told that the 2.5 give piston and gasket trouble can any one tell me whats the best pistons and gasket to get and where to get them any help would be great ...

Is it misbehaving? Overheating? Or using silly amounts of oil?

What turbos on it to get 395hp as the standard turbo / injectors won't do those numbers

hardly tom from kilkennys old car is it , 07 kk reg ?

nice bus if so , lots of bits done to it ,

Ali burrows done the pistons , gaskets and head studs on mine a while back brian , takes away the paranoid thoughts of will she go pop every time you drive her on , ali seems to say omega or cosworth parts , not much in the price difference and turned my car around in a week including him putting up a few miles to make sure all was good ,

is your car overheating or doing anything unusual ?

@Baz, have seen threads where vf 43's doing 380 without tinkering , a few that have been ported and polished have seen 400 , one or two proven on good rollers in the uk

Ported and polished? Makes fu*k all difference bar better boost control

They wont make that power here with our fuel, Simple as that

i kinda took it with a pinch of salt when i read it baz , sounded bit 2 good to be true to be fair . but still 400 would be mighty impressive on a 43 ,

The map on the car will need to be checked/adjusted before driven in anger after the run in. As there could be a slight difference in compression ratio .
Get the engine done , after the first oil change get her mapped and drive the heart out of it to make sure you get a good bed in on the rings

headstuds also ,

cheers baz do u no where i can get it mapped after

Bob Rawle mapped her for tom using racerom , would only be a tweak map needed so not overly expensive , Bob is one of the best in the business

pistons, rods, gaskets, headstuds . seems to be what all the 2.5 owners are doing at least ,

Yep , what studs 11mm?

yup standard size but higher tensile strength apparently .asked about 14 mm conversion but mad money and not needed for my level of tune.
